Well-packed, offering layers of boysenberry, fig and blackberry pâte de fruit, inlaid with anise, roasted apple and singed spice notes. Dense and grippy, showing detail and energy through the lengthy finish, with a backdrop of minerality that should blossom in the cellar. Best from 2015 through 2025. 800 cases made. -JM

This has muscular layers of fig, boysenberry compote, blackberry confiture and tobacco notes coursing underneath. The tannins are refined, with a lingering elegance to offset the heft. This should age well. Best from 2015 through 2025. 8,330 cases made. -JM

Very ripe, with lush, velvety layers of plum sauce, melted licorice, warm fruitcake and blackberry reduction. Polished toast lines the core and carries the finish, with the fruit gliding through, while a flash of chalk adds cuts and length. Shows impressive depth for the vintage, with good cut for balance. Best from 2017 through 2027. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 884 cases made. -JM

    Vinous - Neal Martin (94)

The 2016 Rocheyron, from Peter Sisseck's property in Saint-Émilion, is unquestionably the best to date. The bouquet bursts from the glass with fresh blackberry and boysenberry fruit that is seamlessly integrated with the one-third new oak. The palate is framed by fine tannins and a superb line of acidity. There is plenty of crisp black fruit here, and the smooth, energetic finish leaves a crushed stone residue. If you couldn’t locate any Pingus this year, just come here.

    Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)

The 2017 Rocheyron, owned by Pete Sisseck, offers ripe red cherry and cranberry fruit on the nose that does not quite have the delineation of the previous two vintages. The palate offers pretty dark cherry fruit laced with soy, a fine bead of acidity and whilst not a deep nor powerful Saint-Émilion, it has a finely tuned, truffle-tinged finish that lingers. Whilst not up to the level of the 2016, there is a panache already sewn into this wine.

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)

The 2018 Rocheyron is a tasty Saint-Émilion that will be easy to drink with minimal cellaring. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, new leather and licorice all open with a bit of coaxing. Rocheyron is a perfectly fine Saint-Émilion, but it is also not especially distinguished. Rocheyron is the joint project of Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz.
