Vinous (90-92)
(this site features barely a foot of dark soil over limestone and rock; entirely destemmed): Dark red-ruby. Fresh, subtle aromas of smoky black cherry, spices and sexy earth tones. A supple, juicy midweight, with nicely focused berry and cherry fruit flavors accented by spices. Ripe tannins spread out to dust the palate on the firm but sweet back end. These vines escaped the frost in 2016.Inc. VAT£1,171.61 -
Indulge in the exceptional Thibault Liger Belair Bourgogne Aligote Clos des Perrieres la Combe 2018, a testament to the exquisite craft of an esteemed Burgundy producer. Originating from Burgundy, France, this single-vineyard Aligoté reflects the vineyard's unique microclimate and chalky, shallow soil. Careful attention to traditional biodynamic practices is a hallmark of Thibault Liger-Belair's winemaking approach, fostering harmony between the vine, soil and climate. The result is a wine that exudes an elegant finesse, vivid with intense, fresh aromas of citrus and a hint of white flowers. The palate is met with a mineral drive, complemented by a precise acidity leading to a refined, lingering finish. This 2018 vintage is a fine exhibition of both the winery's dedication to preserving the integrity of the terroir and the distinctive character of the Aligoté grape. Thibault Liger Belair Bourgogne Aligote Clos des Perrieres la Combe 2018 is indeed a stellar revelation in the world of fine wines.

Healthy medium red. Very ripe, pungent aromas of cassis, blackberry, coffee and mocha, with a suggestion of hard candy. Lush and silky-sweet in the mouth; not as complex as the Reas but boasts a wonderfully pliant texture and a very long, smoothly tannic finish. Incidentally, Thibault Liger-Belair believes that by vinifying the 2013 version of this wine with some whole clusters for the first time, he was able to build a longer and more vibrant wine. But this 2012 will please with its plushness.Inc. VAT£736.84 -

(50% new oak; 25 hectoliters per hectare; destemmed owing to the flies): Healthy bright red. Slightly reduced aromas of dark cherry, spices and crushed rock lifted by a refined floral quality. Juicy, dry and very primary; this unforthcoming, rocky wine is hiding more than it's showing today. Best now on the perfumed, firmly tannic, lingering finish. All in reserve. The Gruenchers finished its malolactic fermentation very late and like some of the following wines it may not be racked until after the winter, with the bottling taking place as late as June or July.Inc. Suave and fine-grained on entry, then larger-scaled on the back half, opening out and building on the finish. Tannins are dusty and broad. Very shy now but leaves behind a lovely perfume in the empty glass.Inc. VAT£1,090.36 -

70% whole bunches, in the trimmed stem version. Dense black purple, and a very rich dark raspberry fruit with some black cherry. Almost exaggerated but in fact not. Thibault notes that elements of finesse became apparent later in the vinification rather than at the start which is interesting. Work at the end paid off. This becomes so much more stylish than one could imagine from the initial attack. Long classy and charming.Inc. VAT£1,398.04 -

(all destemmed): Medium red. Complex if reticent aromas of redcurrant, minerals, smoked meat and pepper. Sweet on entry, then quite firm in the middle, showing hints of candied fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded but quite firm tannin that lends this Corton-Renardes good backbone. This really fills the mouth, and I find a little more precision here compared to the Charmes-Chambertin tasted directly before, along with impressive mineralité. A 2017 for Burgundy purists.Inc. (6x75cl) 2020Vinous (90-92)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin En Créot is a debut release that is completely de-stemmed that underwent a gentle vinification. It has quite a lively bouquet with red cherries, cranberry and flinty aromas, good tension here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, smooth in texture with a touch of white pepper and bay leaf towards the finish, dessicated orange peel lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine.In Bond£375.00 -
Burghound (89-92)
A brooding and very earthy nose is more deeply pitched and very Gevrey in character. The rich, concentrated and more powerful medium-bodied flavors are firmly structured and serious while exhibiting touch of bitter pit fruit and youthful austerity on the balanced and highly persistent finish. Créots always needs time in bottle to develop and this excellent example will be no exception. RecommendedIn Bond£436.00 -

Vinous (89-91)
(Liger-Belair just bought this parcel on mostly clay and silt soil after years of farming it via a fermage arrangement; 50% vendange entier; just 20% of the crop was lost to frost): Dark red with ruby tones. Very ripe dark fruit aromas are complicated by strong soil notes of dried flowers (the veggie side of floral, says Liger-Belair), licorice and cut straw. More precise on the palate than the nose suggests, displaying the savory, sappy side of the vintage and very good intensity. Finishes with building, slightly dusty tannins and noteworthy energy. Not at all a rustic style of Gevrey, despite the fact that it's from a parcel on the wrong side of the Route Nationale. In Bond£390.00 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Croix des Champs is more than 55% whole cluster. That stem addition comes across a little strongly on the nose and occludes the terroir profile. The medium-bodied palate offers firm tannins, plenty of red berry fruit laced with orange peel and slathers of marmalade, and a grippy finish with a light cola note on the aftertaste. From the bottom side of the commune, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Croix des Champs includes 55–60% of whole cluster. It has a clean, precise bouquet of perfumed red cherry and raspberry fruit, displaying commendable mineralité. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and brambly red fruit laced with white pepper toward the elegant finish. Promising. In Bond£349.00 -
