Coming all from the Les Bessards lieu-dit located on the western side of Hermitage, this beauty was 85% destemmed and spent 18 months in a mix of demi-muids and puncheons. Based on 100% Syrah that was 85% destemmed with 15% whole cluster and aged 21 months in 70% used barrels and 30% demi-muids with 15% new oak, it's full-bodied and has a pure, layered mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, ample mid-palate, flawless balance, and a gorgeous finish. It's one of the finest wines in the vintage as well as an absolutely flawless, perfect wine that already offers pleasure yet will benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and keep for 50 years. It has a similar level of purity, as well as incredible minerality, to go with notes of crème de cassis, scorched earth, crushed rock, and graphite. Reminiscent of liking a rock with its insane level of minerality, this full-bodied beauty is tight and closed on the palate, yet is just loaded with potential. The nose, with its aromatic display of flowers, plums, cherries, espresso, licorice, dark cocoa and oyster shell is compelling. The seamless finish crosses the 60 second mark with its non-stop display of concentrated, perfectly ripe, dark sweet, red fruits, chocolate, licorice and spice. If you can afford it, it is a wine you should have in your cellar and you'll want to age this for at least 15 years before popping a bottle.
