The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle comes across as cool, mineral and closed in on itself. Still, it reveals gorgeous textural finesse and fabulous overall balance. The 2010 floats on the palate with an effortless expression of fruit that is truly remarkable. Deep layers of spices wrap around the sensual finish. This is another fabulous wine from Bruno Clair.Inc. VAT£1,664.81 -

Imposing and structured today, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru is built on spine of serious tannin that gives the wine much of its personality. Wine Advocate (91-93)
The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Petit Chapelle comes from the domaine's smallest holding at 0.25-hectares. It has a pure, tightly wound bouquet with black cherries and strawberry pastilles, floral tones emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is good nervosité here, tangible mineralité with impressive persistence on the finish. Very feminine and beguiling, this wine will only require a couple of years in bottle but it has the pedigree and substance to age with style.Inc. VAT£176.39 -
Vinous (90-92)
(36 hectoliters per hectare produced): Bright medium red. Darker on the nose than the Clos du Fontenys, offering scents of black cherry, blackberry and licorice. Then juicier, more minerally and higher-pitched in the mouth; a step up in energy from the Clos du Fontenys, despite the fact that this vineyard is situated lower on the hillside. Not geologically logical, noted Bruno Clair--in much the same way that frost damage was often worse on the hillsides than on flat land and bewilderingly haphazard in general. Finishes with a positive medicinal reserve and firm but ripe tannins.Inc. VAT£200.93 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru has an expressive bouquet of ample red berry fruit, hints of rose petal and just a touch of vanilla pod. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, lithe tannins. A pliant, silky-smooth La Petite Chapelle with a harmonious, sensual finish. This wine has ambition.Inc. VAT£729.95 -
Vinous (91-93)
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru is the smallest cuvée of the domaine, just 4 or 5 barrels each year. It has fine focus and intensity with blackberry, briary and freshly tilled soil. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, crisp and fresh with a crunchy textured, edgy finish. Elegant and full of tension, it should drink well for 12 to 15 years.Inc. VAT£763.55 -
Burghound (91-94)
(Sweet Spot) (from a .25 ha parcel that is located on the southern side of the vineyard near En Ergot). Here there is sufficient reduction to blur the nuances of what are clearly floral-suffused red berry aromas. There is excellent freshness and verve to the intensely mineral-driven middle weight flavors that terminate in a linear, chiseled, austere and very serious finale. This is beautiful but it’s also a ‘buy and forget you own it’ wine.Inc. VAT£858.80 -
(6x75cl) 2019Vinous (88-90)
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, from three lieux-dits, has a strict, rather backward nose that refused to "come out and play". (6x75cl) 2021Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (88-91)
The fruit comes mostly from old vines in Carougeots, plus En Jouise and Belair. Lively pleasing red fruit, shows strawberry behind, raspberry up front, with the peppery finish of a wine which has just missed reaching optimum ripeness. Drink from 2025-2030.Inc. VAT£379.24 -

Vinous (86-88)
(the estate made 70% of a normal crop): Medium red. Slightly diffuse aromas of red and darker berries, earth and game. Shows more red than black fruits in the mouth, with complicating notes of clove and underbrush. I wanted a bit more flesh and stuffing. Not bad but not exciting. Finishes with slightly dusty tannins. These vines were planted on broken rock in 1980. (Clair will not bottle any Chambolle-Musigny Les Veroilles owing to the frost.)In Bond£438.00 -

(12x75cl) 2007Vinous (89+)
Bright medium red. Reticent nose hints at maraschino cherry, dark berries and minerals. Sweet, dense and quite young, showing a brooding medicinal quality and good power for the year. A large-scaled, chewy wine with no easy sweetness. In spite of its volume, this is almost austere for the year, and the dusty tannins call for at least a couple years of patience. In Bond£848.00 -
(12x75cl) 2010Wine Advocate (91-93)
The 2010 Savigny-les-Beaune La Dominode is absolutely fabulous in this vintage. It boasts gorgeous fleshiness in its dark red fruit. Mint, freshly cut flowers and spices are some of the nuances that develop in the glass. The Dominode is ultimately about energy and textural brilliance, both of which it has in spades. I loved it. This parcel was first planted in 1902. Roughly 40% of the original vines remain. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.In Bond£734.00 -
(3x150cl) 2017Vinous (90-92)
The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has a much more backward, sulky bouquet compared to Les Jarrons, offering dark berry fruit and just a touch of flint that emerges with aeration. The medium-bodied palate displays a saline, almost briny opening. There is good density here, with tarry black fruit and that strong saline influence dominating the finish. A more cerebral Savigny. In Bond£330.00
