  • Bond Estates Matriarch Bordeaux Blend Red 2010 (3x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2010 Matriarch is quite beautiful in this vintage. Supple and juicy at first, the 2010 has plenty of underlying structure. Rose petals, violets, new leather and a hint of orange peel appear on an exotic, perfumed finish laced with veins if dark red and blue fruits.

  • Bond Estates Matriarch Bordeaux Blend Red 2012 (3x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2012 Matriarch is plump, juicy and generous, with plenty of dark red cherry, plums, new leather, cinnamon and floral notes. The succulent, open-knit style is a terrific example of the year. Matriarch is a blend of fruit from various sources in the BOND program that don't make it into the vineyard-designate bottlings.
  • Bond Estates Matriarch Bordeaux Blend Red 2014 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2014 Matriarch is pliant and seductive, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, mocha and licorice all meld together in an open-knit, succulent Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects the mid-weight structure of the vintage. Stylistically, the Maiden is a bit more overt and succulent next to The Maiden, the second wine of Harlan Estate.

  • Bond Estates Matriarch Bordeaux Blend Red 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

The 2015 Matriarch is an absolutely gorgeous second wine from BOND that benefits from the diversity of fruit sources that go into the blend. That is quite obvious when comparing Matriarch to The Maiden, the second wine of Harlan Estate, which draws from a more narrow set of parcels. Ripe red and purplish berry fruit, blood orange, mint and floral notes all grace this exquisitely silky, captivating wine from BOND. The 2015 Matriarch is just gorgeous.

  • Bond Melbury 2016 (1x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (100)

Moving to the single vineyard releases, the 2016 Melbury is pure perfection in a glass and is the finest vintage of this cuvée I’ve tasted. Awesome notes of cassis, blackcurrants, toasted bread, white flowers, and spice give way to an ethereal, seamless, yet opulent wine that has that rare mix of power and elegance possessed by all truly great wines. Full-bodied, concentrated, and with building yet perfectly ripe tannins, do your best to give bottles 4-5 years of bottle age. It will evolve effortlessly for 30 years or more.

  • Bond Melbury 2017 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

The 2017 Melbury is a rich, sumptuous wine with a bit more volume and intensity than is often the case. All the typical Melbury signatures are present - the red berry fruit and the floral top notes in particular. The 2017 is a decidedly potent, heady Melbury that has really gained in both fruit depth and structural intensity since I last saw it as a barrel sample. The 2017 clearly needs time to soften though, as the tannins are imposing. In 2017, the Melbury is made only from the top blocks, which means production is down around 40%.

The 2018 Melbury is fabulous. Bright, punchy and full of character, the Melbury is so alluring in this tasting. Sweet floral notes, crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice and blood orange explode from the glass. Medium in body, silky and arresting in its beauty, the 2018 is spectacularly beautiful. • Bond Pluribus 2015 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2015

    Wine Advocate (100)

Bottled in early 2018, the 2015 Pluribus is deep purple-black colored with minted cassis, pencil shavings and tobacco over a core of black plums, black berry preserves and mulberries plus hints of Chinese five spice and dried lavender. Big, rich, bold and decadent, it has a firm line of super ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness lifting the generous flavors to a long finish.
  • Bond Pluribus 2016 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

Pluribus vineyard is situated on Spring Mountain, producing a sometimes broody wine in its youth with tons of latent power and energy waiting to erupt. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Pluribus is a little closed and youthfully mute to begin, slowly unfurling to offer glimpses at baked plums, crushed blackcurrants, boysenberries and redcurrant jelly plus suggestions of charcoal, black olives, Sichuan pepper and bay leaves with a waft of pain grille. Full-bodied, it has a rock-solid frame of very firm, ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the muscular black fruit and savory accents, finishing with phenomenal length and loads of earthy layers.

Crushed rocks, mint, blood orange, gravel, exotic spice and rose petal lend tremendous complexity as the Pluribus shows off its considerable allure. This taut, mountain Cabernet Sauvignon has so much to offer. Today, it is wonderfully complete and thrilling. Even so, the best is yet to come.

First made in 2006 and coming from more sandy, coarser soils, the 2018 Quella is incredibly exotic, with red and black fruits, wildflowers, sandalwood, candied violets, and flowery incense notes as well as medium to full body, a layered, ultra-fine, pure mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's incredibly elegant and polished in 2018, with a chalky minerality as well as gorgeous complexity and length. Vinous (97)

A dark, voluptuous beauty, the 2009 St. Eden possesses remarkable depth and tons of pure intensity. It is perhaps not quite as complex as some of the very best vintages, but it is nevertheless striking for its supple, juicy feel. Mocha, espresso and a host of dark-toned notes build into the super-expressive finish.
  • Bond St. Eden 2013 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

The 2013 St. Eden is absolutely mind-blowing, with notes of blackcurrant liqueur and licorice as well as hints of Asian soy and lead pencil. Wonderful fruit that hits the palate with a cascade of glycerin, silky but noticeable tannins, and a big, earthy, rich, full-throttle, majestic finish of close to a minute add to this wine’s compelling personality. • Bond Vecina 2016 (1x75cl)
    (1x75cl) 2016

    Wine Advocate (100)

Vecina vineyard is located in the western foothills of Oakville, just to the south-east of the winery (up on Oakville Grade). Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Vecina slips sensuously out of the glass with gorgeous black cherries, kirsch, wild blueberries and blackcurrant pastilles notes plus suggestions of bouquet garni, pencil lead, tilled earth and underbrush. Full-bodied, taut and packed with ripe, expressive, exquisitely accented black and blue fruits, it has loads of earthy sparks and a compelling fine-grained nature to the firm texture, finishing long and layered. This bright, energetic, incredibly nuanced beauty is built like a brick house and, while approachable in youth, is easily a 50-year wine. I therefore urge readers to wait at least 5-7 years before opening to allow for the myriad of subtle nuances to emerge and offer that "WOW" experience that will reward patience.

  • Bond St. Eden 2009 (3x75cl)
    (3x75cl) 2009

It should drink well for at least 30-40 years.

  • Bond St. Eden 2017 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

The 2017 St. Eden is bold, juicy and also more immediate than some of the other wines in the range. Then again, that's St. Eden, a site that naturally produces sumptuous Cabernets. In 2017, St. Eden comes only from the older portion of the vineyard, which was planted in 1991.

  • Bond Vecina 2009 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98+)

BOND’s 2009 Proprietary Blend Vecina, from Vine Hill Ranch, is fascinating to taste after the St. Eden. While the St. Eden is round and sensual, the Vecina is all about linear power and structure. Endowed with tremendous length and persistence, the Vecina presents endless layers of dark fruit and expressive aromatics supported by considerable tension and energy. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034.

  • Bond Vecina 2013 (1x150cl)

    Wine Advocate (100)

The perfect 2013 Vecina offers up notes of pen ink, scorched earth, espresso, blackcurrant liqueur and blackberries. It is a fabulously great wine, with supple, well-integrated tannin, decent acidity, and a skyscraper-like mouthfeel, with extraordinary purity and richness. This is an amazing wine to drink over the next 50 years, although I would probably suggest cellaring for five or more at present.

  • Bond Vecina 2017 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (97)

The 2017 Vecina is outrageously beautiful. Inky and deep, it possesses stunning richness, power and structure. Its pedigree and sheer beauty are immediately evident. Over the last year, the 2017 has gained quite a bit of depth and overall resonance I did not see in the barrel samples. As a reminder, Vecina is sourced from Vine Hill Ranch, specifically Block 6 Upper, one of the best locations on the ranch.

A regal, soaring wine, the 2018 Vecina is immediately captivating. Red fruit, iron, dried rose petal and exotic spice all soar out of the glass. Over the last two months the Vecina has acquired stunning aromatic presence to play off its deep, layered fruit. The 2018 is an absolute gem in the making. As a reminder, Vecina is sourced from Vine Hill Ranch, at the southern end of Oakville, where the Cabernets are distinguished by a beguiling combination of power and savory/earthy intensity.

    James Suckling (99)

The depth of fruit in this is pretty extraordinary, with deep and dark fruit on the nose of blackberries, chocolate, ink pot, and dark chocolate. Precise and complete. Full-bodied with very fine and energetic tannins and fresh acidity. Red and black currants. Brightness throughout. Needs four to five years to open, but what a wine for the vintage.
