The Real Review (96)Deep, dark red/purple colour, excellent hue, and the bouquet is classic cabernet sauvignon: cedar, blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco and a trace of seaweed or nori. Coffee grounds later. Concentrated and powerful, this is a majestic cabernet, with tremendous concentration, fleshy extract and drive. It fills the mouth to overflowing. A great wine in the making and a triumph for a straight cabernet sauvignon from this region. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92)The 2010 Villemaurine is another Saint-Émilion with an extremely ripe and extrovert bouquet, yet still attractive with maraschino cherries, allspice, cloves and hung game. Vinous - Ian D'Agata (88)Inky ruby. Oak-spiced dark berries and cherry on the nose. Fleshy, rich dark red fruit flavors are lifted by a floral topnote and juicy acidity. Finishes with good back-end thrust, an echo of vanilla and slow-building, slightly gritty tannins. Still, this struck me as being well balanced and rounder than many other 2011 Saint-Emilions. Needs to be served with food. |
