This is one of the more inward, introspective wine of the vintage, as it always is at Brovia. Today, the fruit lies in the background, while the wine's structural components are front and center. Specifically, the flavors are vivid, delineated and wonderfully alive. The characteristic Villero spiced/balsamic notes are very much present. Black cherry, menthol, licorice, cloves and lavender infuse the impeccable, layered finish. Today, the Villero is explosive and showy. Readers will have to be patient. This is a fabulous showing. |

Vinous (90)The 2019 Dolcetto d'Alba Vignavillej is a deep, fleshy and voluminous wine. Inky blue/purplish fruit, spice, leather and licorice are all amplified in this decidedly large-scaled Dolcetto from Brovia. Most of this fruit is from the family's Brea property in Serralunga. |
