Decanter (97)A bottle of Romanée-St-Vivant 2009 over lunch was a superb counterpoint to our tasting of the 2020s, allowing us to see how another sunny vintage has evolved thirteen years from the harvest. The wine was voluptuous, with a lovely, ripe plummy fruit now developing savoury, earthy complexity. The texture is ripe and silky, opening now as the tannins recede, and the wine is expressive and beginning to show its potential, although it is still at the beginning of its evolution and will improve for decades to come. This wine is simply superb and just now coming into its own. 18,271 bottles produced. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2010 Romanée St. Vivant is dazzling. An exotic mosaic of sweet spices, red berries, dried flowers and mint bursts onto the palate in this viscerally thrilling, captivating Romanée St. Vivant. The 2010 is notable for so many attributes, but one that stands out is the sheer beauty and texture of the breathtaking finish. |

Vinous (97)An intense, almost exotic wine, the 2012 Romanée St.-Vivant takes the elements that make RSV such a distinctive site and simply amplifies all of them. Dense and yet also seamless on the palate, the 2012 RSV will need considerable time to shed its baby fat, but it is impressive just the same. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (97)The 2013 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is still quite young, but it is drinking very nicely. Floral and lifted, with mid-weight, translucent structure, the 2013 expresses all of the understated finesse that is such a signature of this Grand Cru. Tea leaves, mint, dried flowers, cedar and blood orange weave through a core of red-toned fruit. Firm yet polished tannins extend the clean, bracing finish. Tasted next to the 2014, the 2013 is more aromatic and delicate in feel. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (98)The 2014 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru offers a stunning mix of RSV finesse and ripe, generous fruit. Dark red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate and spice lend an exotic flair. Still quite young and wonderfully deep, the 2014 is magnificent. It's a Burgundy that offers a warm embrace. The 2014 can be enjoyed now, but it also has the depth and pedigree to develop beautifully in bottle for many years to come. |

Vinous (96)Bright, full red. Sensational perfumed nose shows a musky element of wildness along with aromas of dark cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, cocoa powder, brown spices and earth. A compellingly rich, horizontal wine that spreads out to coat every square millimeter of the palate. Quite firmly built--even a bit youthfully imploded--but this wine is already an attention-grabber. Finishes with a firm but refined dusting of tannins and outstanding rising length. |

Vinous (96)The 2016 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, picked on September 27–28 at 27hL/ha, has a heavenly, perfumed nose of blackberry, briar, wet limestone, incense and pressed iris flowers, displaying much more fruit intensity than the Corton alongside. There are subtle graphite notes that develop with aeration - the old-school pencil box, though it is never more than a fleeting suggestion. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and quite rounded in the mouth, and that graphite tincture builds toward the second half. I adore the energy and balletic poise of this Romanée-Saint-Vivant as it deftly fans out toward the finish, exerting grip, but with the softest of touches, and offering deceiving weight and depth. A wine that exudes panache and sophistication. 1,304 cases produced. Tasted at Corney & Barrow’s annual in-bottle tasting in London. |

Vinous (98)A total stunner, the 2017 Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru is the most expressive wine in the lineup today. Rich, creamy and so wonderfully textured, the RSV simply has it all. The tannins are present, but they are also matched by tremendous fruit density and pure power. Floral and savory overtones grace the lifted, saline finish. Leaving price aside, if I could only have one wine in this range, it would unquestionably be the RSV. The 2017 is a total knock-out. That’s all there is to it. This fruit was picked on September 10 and 11. |

Vinous (94-96)The 2018 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru has a detailed bouquet of dark cherries, blueberry and pressed iris, an undertow of sea spray and petrichor emerging with time. Less floral than previous vintages, it is nevertheless extremely well focused. The palate is medium-bodied and you are immediately struck by the harmony of this wine. Elegant and discreetly spiced toward the finish. I would just like to see more persistence manifest during the remainder of its élevage. |

Vinous (98)The 2019 Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru picks up where the Grands Echézeaux leaves off. What a wine! Complete and beautifully resonant, the Romanée St. Vivant offers up copious dark fruit intermingled with dried herbs, lavender, graphite and coffee. It’s a rich, dramatic Romanée St. Vivant that will reward decades of cellaring. In most years, Romanée St. Vivant is a wine of sensuality, but in 2019 it is quite brooding and potent in bearing. Magnificent. |

Vinous (89)(a blend from the second harvest of the estate's various vineyards; Villaine noted that the '99 version of this wine did not include the second harvest from Romanee-Conti) Good full red. Fruit-driven aromas of plum and spice. Perfumed and sweet in the mouth, with an enticing spiciness but without quite the fine grain and density of texture of the estate's other wines. With a bit less volume, this conveys an impression of stronger acidity, even if the numbers don't show it. |

Vinous (92)The Vosne-Romanée Cuvée Duvault-Blochet is a wine the domaine has quietly made for some time. In the past, it was mostly allocated to restaurants in France, but that has started to change. Seductive and beautifully perfumed, the 2019 1er Cru is a fabulous introduction to the Vosne-Romanée wines that form the core of this tasting. Soaring aromatics and silky contours give the 2019 its distinct air of sensuality. Dark-fleshed fruit, lavender and menthol are some of the notes that grace the exquisite 2019. The 1er Cru is a blend of mostly young vines from Romanée St. Vivant and La Tâche, picked early and co-fermented. |

Vinous (90)The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Cuvée Duvault-Blochet 1er Cru was cropped at 18.8hL/ha. It is slightly deeper in color compared to other vintages. It has a precocious and pure bouquet with redcurrant, cranberry and just a touch of peony. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, high-toned with a light spicy element emerging with time. This is one of the most outgoing Duvault-Blochets that I have encountered. There's more blueberry fruit, almost pastille-like, towards the finish. Joyous but it leaves the cerebral aspects of Pinot Noir to its fellow cuvées. 679 cases produced. Tasted at Corney & Barrow's tasting in London. |
