Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2015 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is raised in 80% new oak with 20% whole bunch. It has a very detailed and focused bouquet with precise blackberry, raspberry and morello cherry aromas neatly infused with mineral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, powerful without losing control and building towards a very structured, spicy finish. Whilst I would still dial down the oak to 50-60%, nevertheless it remains a very well-crafted Chambertin with plenty of substance and ambition, and that ain't a bad thing when you are a Clos-de-Bèze. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2018 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru includes 30% whole-bunch fruit, though this is the one grand cru where you cannot detect the stem addition, just the copious dark cherry, raspberry, cedar and undergrowth aromas that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is supple on the entry, the acidity neatly counterbalancing the intensity of the fruit. This Clos-de-Bèze has real grip and an arching structure on the finish, suggesting that it will be a seriously long-lived wine. Excellent. |

Vinous (92-94)Containing 30% whole bunch and 80% new oak, the 2019 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has an intense bouquet of candied black fruit, orange blossom and light sous-bois scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite dense and muscular, though with satisfying freshness and tension toward the finish, a bit of orange zest livening up the proceedings. I would have liked just a bit more transparency overall. |

Tim Atkin MW (98)All of the family's fruit is toward the bottom of Clos de B ze, around the "Ici Commence le Chambertin" sign and the stone hut, or la cabotte. Sultry and bold, this is packed with floral and branch notes, likely thanks in part to the 30% whole bunches. The palate follows on with black currants and a supremely firm wall of finely-grained tannins. There's crushed slate and grilled meat notes along with spice in spades on the long and notably refreshing finish. Don't rush to open this one. 2026-48 |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92)The 2021 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has noticeable menthol scents on the nose, not as strong as some of the other '21s in the tasting, yet it lurks behind the attractive red berry fruit and briar scents. The palate is ripe and sweet on the entry with that menthol note becoming more prominent. Fine definition, a little chewy and spicy towards the finish. It just misses a bit of grace and elegance, though that might well manifest with bottle age, during which I hope it dispenses with that incongruous menthol aroma. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Wine Advocate (88-90)The 2013 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has plenty of lilting dark plum and strawberry fruit on the nose, nicely defined and pure. The palate is medium-bodied with supple coffee-tinged black fruit, the Seguin Moreau oak coming on quite strong toward the finish that slightly obscures the terroir expression. Like some of the other of Drouhin-Laroze's 2013s, last year's offering was showing much better. |

Domaine Drouhin-Laroze has some of the best sites in the Cote d’Or. The Clos de Vougeot 2011 has an exciting intensity throughout that engulfs the palate and exudes power on the long crafted finish. Plenty of wood and warm earth gives great balance to the very fresh red fruit.

Wine Advocate (90)Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Drouhin-Laroze has a composed bouquet of blackcurrant and raspberry fruit, a touch of cigar ash and woodland aromas developing close behind. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, low acidity, rather extracted and perhaps, just a little monotone on the finish. Maybe it will develop more personality in bottle...it should do. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2015 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, which comes from the upper slopes of the vineyard, has a rich and opulent bouquet with precocious mulberry and blueberry scents, violet and desiccated orange peel. The 30% whole bunches is discretely embedded in the black fruit, lending crunchiness to the texture. This displays impressive depth; notwithstanding infectious energy and a vibrant finish. Excellent - this is one of the best grand crus from Drouhin-Laroze this vintage. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru includes 35% whole bunch fruit (the first time ever) and was cropped at just 25 hectoliters per hectare because of frost damage. It has an attractive bouquet with copious dark cherry, blackberry and crushed flowers. The palate is well balanced with fine tannin, quite a masculine Clos Vougeot with a good backbone on the somewhat foursquare finish that just cuts away a little swiftly. This might be one cuvée where I prefer the 2015 to this year's counterpart. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is completely de-stemmed and matures in 80% new oak. It has an expressive and aromatic bouquet with pretty blueberry, raspberry and iodine aromas that burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very effervescent from the start with vivid red and black fruit infused with orange zest and light fig notes. Very fine. |

Vinous (94)The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru had the highest sugar levels in this vintage, so this was the first cuvée to be picked on 24 August. It has a very expressive nose, very pure and without any stems, it still imparts an attractive spiciness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, nicely poised with a harmonious and mineral-driven finish. Excellent. |

Vinous (88-90)The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Au Closeau 1er Cru has a fresh red berry nose laced with orange blossom and light marmalade notes. Vinous (91)Due to the vigour of this parcel, the Domaine undertook a green harvest in making their 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Au Closeau 1er Cru. It is fragrant and pure on the nose: blackberry, raspberry and light wild strawberry scents comingle, just a touch of vanilla emanating from the oak (60%). The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, the 40% whole bunch imparting pleasant white pepper and bay leaf notes that lends another dimension on the juicy finish. This is well worth looking out for. |

Vinous (88-90)The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Au Closeau 1er Cru underwent some green harvest to improve the grape maturity. It has a light but focused nose - a mélange of red and black fruit with touches of sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, well balanced with nicely judged acidity. Modest length, this is a well-crafted Gevrey for more early drinking. |
