Wine Advocate (96)The 2020 Paixar is the one wine from the portfolio that is completely different from the others and comes from high-altitude vineyards in the zone of Dragonte on slate soils. In 2020 and 2021 they used the whole field blend—reds and around 5% white grapes, which might have given it an extra spark of acidity. It matured in 5,000-liter oak vat and 500-liter oak barrels. It has a perfumed nose, elegant and floral, with good ripeness but without excess. It's finely textured with a chalky thread and great balance. It finishes long and dry. This is truly superb and should evolve nicely in bottle. It's now Vino de Paraje 'A Serra' in Dragonte, a parish of Corullón. 8,000 bottles were filled in November 2021. |

Wine Advocate (97)No 2017 was produced, so after the 2016 I tasted a while ago, we jump to the 2018 La Dama, vinified by Enrique Basarte and Elisa Úcar and blended and bottled by Raúl Pérez, the new owner of the project. They always look for a more delicate expression of Garnacha from selected stonier plots of old head-pruned and dry-farmed vines in the village of San Martín de Unx that are worked organically and biodynamically but are not certified. The wine is stunning, elegant and aromatic, with depth, complexity and grip. It's incredibly young and expressive and doesn't show its age at all; it has a refined nose and is quite fruit-driven and floral, with very integrated oak (like never before), supple flavors and very fine tannins. It has good ripeness and contained alcohol (13.8%) and good freshness and acidity (with a pH of 3.46 and 6.3 grams of tartaric). 10,000 bottles were filled in October 2022. |

Wine Advocate (99)One of the all-time great vintages for this château is the 1989 Lynch-Bages, a striking wine that offers up pure and intense aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, spring flowers and hints of cigar wrapper. Vinous - Ian D'Agata (90)(73% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot; 5.11 g/ltotal acidity; 13.2% alcohol): Dark ruby-red with a hint of garnet at the rim. Crème de cassis complemented by floral, tobacco and incense notes on the brightly aromatic nose. Very well balanced, clean, and juicy, with good inner-mouth perfume and energy to the dark fruit, cedar, herb and graphite flavors. The finish features mounting tannins that teeter on the brink of drying. This seems to have picked up some flesh and volume with bottle age, but I hope the fruit outlives the tannins. It's a lovely wine that lacks only the power of the best vintages. |

Wine Spectator (97)Powerful aromas of roasted fruit, smoke and toast change gears on the palate, which is as fresh and elegant as it is concentrated, with cherry, plum, tar and toast flavors. Firm tannins kick in on the finish, giving it good grip. Has the stuffing and balance to age for years.--The Bordeaux 50. 25,000 cases made. |

Wine Advocate (99)One of the all-time great vintages for this château is the 1989 Lynch-Bages, a striking wine that offers up pure and intense aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, spring flowers and hints of cigar wrapper. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's seamless and concentrated, with a rich core of fruit, ripe tannins and a beautifully defined finish. Still an infant at age 32, it surpasses all three of Pauillac's first growths in 1989. |

Wine Spectator (94)A wine that continues to improve with age. Shows loads of ripe plum, almost prune, with hints of vanilla and mineral. Full, chewy and tight. Still needs time.--Lynch-Bages non-blind vertical. Best after 2008. |

Decanter (95)Deep plum in colour, holding its Pauillac character perfectly at 25 years old, opening up to show cedar, pencil shavings, tobacco, graphite, cassis and touches of raspberry purée. This is very much in the drinking window, with waves of camphor, charcoal, woodsmoke and tobacco adding complexity and interest. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. |
