  • Pierre Damoy Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (92)

The 2009 Chapelle-Chambertin floats across the palate with delicate red berries, flowers and sweet spices. Highly expressive, perfumed aromatics are woven throughout, while silky tannins convey an impression of pure sensuality. I especially like the way the Chapelle freshens up in the glass, always a good sign for the future. Of the 2009s I tasted from bottle, the Chapelle is the one wine that appears a bit reticent today. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.
  • Pierre Damoy Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2010 (6x75cl)

The wine is at once inward yet also soft and caressing. Layers of fruit build to the expressive finish. This is a fabulous showing. The 2010 Chapelle was aged in 80% new barrels.

  • Pierre Damoy Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (90-92)

The 2015 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet. Usually I find Damoy's wines a little too extracted for my personal taste, although here there is admirable Pinot Noir expression. An omen for the future? The palate is medium-bodied with black pepper-tinged red berry fruit, a slight dustiness developing towards the finish, but there is respectable concentration and persistence on the finish.

  • Pierre Gelin Chambertin-Clos De Beze Grand Cru 2014 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91-93)

The 2014 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru comes from 0.60-hectares of vines split over two parcels, one planted in the 1950s and the other in 2001 when the old vines were pulled up. It is completely destemmed. It has a refined bouquet, very well defined, natural and poised with slightly earthy red berry fruit that grow in stature in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a touch of graphite infusing the red cherry fruit. I like the poise here, then tension and the finesse shown on the finish - a lovely Clos-de-Bèze that comes recommended.
  • Pierre Gelin Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur 2014 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (85-87)

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur comes from vines that suffer millerandage every year, and Emmanuel Gelin told me that this makes the extraction easier. It has a lifted blackberry and blueberry nose with fine delineation, the palate quite bold and concentrated, as well as voluminous in the mouth; although I would like more finesse and detail to be expressed on the finish. It just feels a little blocky compared to Gelin's other 2014s at the moment.
