Sweet and thick but penetrating as well, with the black fruit flavors saturating the mouth. Finishes broad, gripping and long, with sweet tannins coating the teeth. Dark red with ruby highlights. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, licorice and menthol are leavened by a distinct medicinal reserve. Sweet and thick but penetrating as well, with the black fruit flavors saturating the mouth. Finishes broad, gripping and long, with sweet tannins coating the teeth. I give this the edge over the young 2014 Clos Vougeot, but between the two vintages of Charmes-Chambertin I prefer the '14.
