The certified organic Tassi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino mirrors some of the qualities we saw in the new Rosso (Greppino 193) with a bright and lifted presentation. There is red cherry, pastry cream, plum and rose tea. The effect is delicate and elegant with fine, chalky tannins. These are the good kind of drying tannins that also remain silky. This wine is enjoyable on all fronts, but it won't be ready for prime-time drinking for another year or so.In Bond£270.00 -

The Tassi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Colombaiolo has a different character compared to the Giuseppe Tassi. This wine has a thicker weaving with more texture and fruit weight. This wine is horizontal in its delivery and the other is vertical. There are hints of marjoram, star anise and wild sage that add spice over a medium to full-bodied approach.In Bond£570.00 -

The bouquet on the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Franci is deeply rooted in the earth, with notes of underbrush and crushed ashen stone giving way to black currants and savory herbs. It’s far more lifted and delicate in feel than anticipated, presenting a lovely inner sweetness and a pure display of tart woodland berries and hints of sour citrus, all motivated by bright acidity. The grippy tannins come forward through the finale, combining with a residual coating of primary concentration to create a black hole of structural tension. Keep your hands off of the 2016 for at least a few years, as the best is truly yet to come. The Riserva is produced from the Franci cru, fermented in cone-shaped Garbellotto vats and then aged in 10-hectoliter Slavonian oak for 36 months.In Bond£1,047.42 -

The 2015 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru comes from two parcels in Les Duresses and Les Grands Champs. It has a very satisfying bouquet with lifted blackberry, briary and light earthy notes. There is a light floral note developing. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, very well balanced with tart red cherry and cranberry leaf, nicely structured with a brisk, lively finish.In Bond£98.00 -
Burghound (89-92)
(from Les Duresses and Grands Champs). Slightly more elegant aromas include those of poached plum, cassis and newly turned earth. The seductive yet dense and powerful bigger-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that helps to buffer the firm tannic spine shaping the solidly persistent finale where the only nit is a hint of warmth. Vinous (84-86)
The 2021 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru is a blend of three Premier Crus when it is usually two (the additional one comes from En Reugne). It has a light mulberry bouquet that just needs a little more delineation.
