  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2017 (3x150cl)

    Vinous (97)

The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru has quite a meaty nose, featuring plenty of brambly red fruit, desiccated orange peel and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh entry. This is a more zesty Chambertin, lively and even a little tart toward the finish. Does it convey the substance of this noble vineyard? I’m not convinced, and that is perhaps reflective of the vintage, yet after 15 minutes it seems to gain extra layers of complexity, and it's only then you realize that this is the real deal. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru is more backward on the nose than Rossignol-Trapet’s Chambertin tasting blind alongside, the fruit is high-toned and darker, whilst the oak is a little more prominent. It loses a bit of finesse and complexity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced, quite muscular in style with a flattering finish. Yet, it lacks the effortlessness of the finest Chambertins in this vintage and there is just a slight sour aftertaste. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
  • Camille Giroud Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95-97)

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru is very well-defined and focused on the nose, mineral-rich black fruit, sous-bois and cedar emerging with time, conveying a sense of effortlessness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, an almost symmetrical balance with a poised, pixelated finish. This is an outstanding Chambertin that will age with style. • Camille Giroud Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (88-91)

The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin is a soft-open knit wine with mid-weight structure and good overall persistence. This is the only wine in the range I tasted from tank. Perhaps for that reason, the Charmes is a bit reticent. It will be interesting to see if the wine gains more volume. The decision to move this wine into tank and bottle it early, suggests it may not have the depth of the best wines in the range. - Antonio Galloni

    Vinous (91-93)

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru shows the 60% whole bunch on the nose, slightly overshadowing the blackberry and briary aromas. It’s quite Morey-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a structured opening, though perhaps not quite as precise and as elegant as the Clos de la Roche. There’s a touch of dryness on the finish.

  • Camille Giroud Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92-95)

The 2015 Clos de Vougeot is an impressive wine. Huge tannins give the 2015 much of its shape and sense of direction. Plum, crème de cassis, chocolate and lavender all develop in the glass. Ample and powerful in construction, the 2015 possesses very good depth, even if it can't match the pedigree of the Chambertin. This is another wine with a late malo. I hope to have a chance to taste it again from bottle. - Antonio Galloni

  • Camille Giroud Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2020 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (91-93)

The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, which comes from Petit Maupertui, is tightly wound on the nose, quite concentrated but just missing a little amplitude at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite peppery even though there is no whole bunch here, fine grip towards the finish. Give this 4-6 years in bottle. Has it got something else up its sleeve?

  • Camille Giroud Corton Clos du Rois Grand Cru 2012 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, licorice and menthol are all woven together beautifully in the 2012 Corton Clos du Roi. The firm tannins and brilliant, chiseled minerality suggest the 2012 will drink beautifully for many years, once all the elements have come together a little more fully. In 2012 the Clos du Roi is quite dark and eccentric, but it also holds considerable promise once the imposing tannins soften and release the layers of fruit that are waiting to fully emerge.

  • Camille Giroud Corton Rognet 2005 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

Full red-ruby. Captivating aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat and minerals. Tangy and deep, with distinctly wild, exhilarating flavors of fresh dark berries and game. Very rich, smooth, seamless wine with lovely volume and flesh. A real essence of 2005, finishing with perfectly integrated tannins and superb persistence to its tangy dark raspberry flavor. I liked this very much a year ago, but it's even better today. I also got the feeling that it's Croix's favorite wine of the vintage.
