I’m not convinced, and that is perhaps reflective of the vintage, yet after 15 minutes it seems to gain extra layers of complexity, and it's only then you realize that this is the real deal. The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru is more backward on the nose than Rossignol-Trapet’s Chambertin tasting blind alongside, the fruit is high-toned and darker, whilst the oak is a little more prominent. It loses a bit of finesse and complexity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced, quite muscular in style with a flattering finish. Ample and powerful in construction, the 2015 possesses very good depth, even if it can't match the pedigree of the Chambertin. This is another wine with a late malo.
