From a vineyard that is now biodynamic, the wine has gained an extra dimension of fruit. At the same time, the tannins give the wine density that will stand it in good stead as it ages. This is for the long term.Inc. VAT£494.64 -

The 2018 Ferrière is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Inky dark fruit, gravel, cured meats, graphite, smoke and lavender all run through the 2018. Readers will have to be especially patient, as the 2018 needs time to unwind. Yields are down from an average of 45 hectoliters per hectare to just 26, which no doubt contributes to the wine's natural intensity. The blend is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, in other words, the Cabernet Sauvignon is especially high, a recent trend here because of climate change. This is the first year in which a portion of the wine was aged in cement and amphora (20%), which according to Claire Lurton allows for lower SO2 in aging.Inc. VAT£542.35 -

The 2019 Ferrière is a dense, packed wine, just as it was from barrel. Black fruit, graphite plum, licorice and spice infuse the 2019 with tremendous character. The tannins are pretty formidable. Ferrière was impressive en primeur. It is equally compelling today.Inc. VAT£476.64 -

I tasted this wine twice over the course of six months, in advance of its commercial release. The 2016 Pàtrimo is quite a wine and needs all the extra bottle time it can get. Indeed, I would suggest putting it at the back of your cellar for another 5 years (at least). It opens to a black and impenetrable appearance. This is an elaborate and beautifully constructed wine that is put together piece by piece like a jigsaw puzzle. When viewed as a whole, all those tiny pieces create a beautiful portrait of a grape as the protagonist and of a region as its context. This full-bodied Merlot has made important strides since I first tasted it. Today, it is more expansive and exuberant. It shows lots of volume and depth with elegance and finesse.Inc. VAT£365.15 -

The 2003 is a fascinating Serpico. The wine boasts impressive concentration in its dark, rich fruit. This is an incredibly primary Serpico, with little in the way of tertiary development. The 2012 Feytit-Clinet is one of the more massive, structured Pomerols of the year. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, violets, mint, sage, chocolate, lavender, smoke and tobacco fill out the wine's ample, large-scaled frame with aplomb. There is no shortage of power or intensity. The only question is how long the tannins will need to soften. Today, the Feytit-Clinet is a bruiser. But that doesn't stop it from being both compelling and drop-dead gorgeous. I have been deeply impressed with what I have tasted from proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil over the last few years.Inc. VAT£351.95 -

An unquestionable star of the vintage, this 18-acre vineyard is near Trotanoy, Latour a Pomerol and Clinet. The wine is made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 50% of the production made it into the Grand Vin label. Surprisingly it sports a lofty 13.4% natural alcohol. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of plum, blackcurrant, black cherry, incense and camphor, the wine shows surprising depth, a reasonably broad, succulent mouthfeel and a luscious, impressive finish. This is atypically rich, juicy and succulent for a 2013. Drink it over the next decade or more.Inc. VAT£548.47 -

I love this tiny Pomerol estate, which is brilliantly run by Jeremy Chasseuil. The vineyard covers just over six hectares situated between Trotanoy and Latour A Pomerol, in the Clinet sector of the Pomerol appellation. The 2017 Chateau Feytit-Clinet is mostly Merlot (there’s 7% Cabernet Franc) that spent 16 months in 65% new French oak. It’s never a shy wine, and the 2017 offers loads of ripe black fruits, lavender, orange blossom, and exotic floral and violet aromatics. These carry to a full-bodied Pomerol that has a mouthfilling, expansive texture, ripe, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It offers more fruit, opulence, and sexiness than just about every wine in the vintage. It’s already hard to resist yet will benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades.Inc. This stunning 2008 (14% natural alcohol) is composed of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 1,300 cases were produced of this dense plum/purple-hued offering. It exhibits a big, sweet nose of blackberries, black currants, licorice, smoke and forest floor. The lovely perfume is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine displaying sweet, velvety tannins as well as an endearing personality. It begs to be consumed now and over the next 10-15 years. In Bond£1,000.00 -

A wine with beautiful balance of blackberries, dark chocolate and flowers. Full body, with very refined tannins and a glorious finish. Speechless. Best wine ever from here.In Bond£990.00 -
(6x75cl) 2012Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)
The 2012 Feytit-Clinet is one of the more massive, structured Pomerols of the year. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, violets, mint, sage, chocolate, lavender, smoke and tobacco fill out the wine's ample, large-scaled frame with aplomb. There is no shortage of power or intensity. The only question is how long the tannins will need to soften. Today, the Feytit-Clinet is a bruiser. But that doesn't stop it from being both compelling and drop-dead gorgeous. I have been deeply impressed with what I have tasted from proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil over the last few years. In Bond£274.00 -
(12x75cl) 2013Wine Advocate (90-92)
Drink it over the next decade or more.In Bond£425.00 -

The 2016 Feytit Clinet is a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc aged for 16 months in 70% new and 30% one-year-old French oak barrels. It has a deep garnet-purple color with lifted blueberries and black cherries with hints of lilacs, black tea, potpourri, wood smoke and black soil. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated, rich and bold with firm, rounded tannins, seamless freshness and a very long finish with chocolate hints. About 1,583 cases produced. In Bond£92.00 -

It’s already hard to resist yet will benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades. In Bond£506.00
