(1x75cl) 2006Vinous (92+)
Good deep red. Slightly high-toned aromas of blueberry, violet, licorice and spicy oak. Juicy, fresh and precise; in fact, a bit folded in on itself in the early going and not yet expressive. The firmly tannic finish features superb vibrancy and breadth, not to mention purity of flavor. Fourrier notes that the berries were small in 2006 but retained unusually strong acidity due to the cold August following a hot July.Inc. VAT£303.85 -
Vinous (93)
Good full red. Wild small red fruits are lifted by pungent minerality on the nose. Bright and high-pitched on the palate, showing the captivating sweetness of the year but dominated by its tannic spine today. At once sweeter and firmer than the Cherbaudes, and more vertical in its shape. Finishes with superb lingering perfume. I'd wait three or four years on this beauty. At this point in our tasting, Fourrier told me that acidity levels at this domain were higher in 2007 than in 2005.Inc. VAT£298.13 -
(6x75cl) 2009Vinous (93+)
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Le Combe Aux Moines is a dazzling wine loaded with superb richness and depth in its dark red fruit. This shows marvelous power and a seamless quality to the fruit that is head spinning in its beauty. The finish turns positively explosive. This is gorgeous juice!Inc. VAT£2,002.32 -
Vinous (92+)
Healthy medium red. Slightly stunted but pure aromas of red berries and black cherry are less exuberant than those of the Champeaux. Also more restrained and tightly wound in the mouth, but with vibrant acidity and a sensation of peppery grip giving the wine terrific inner-mouth energy. Classic 2013 in its tautness and cut. Finishes ripely tannic and long; this should be a beauty with mid-term cellaring.Inc. VAT£4,267.44 -
(6x75cl) 2014Wine Advocate (92-94)
The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1Er Cru Combe Aux Moines was another barrel sample that was showing a little reduction, although it soon brushes that away with fleshy red cherry, strawberry and tinned apricot aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, a killer line of acidity, fresh and vibrant with superb mineralité towards the energetic finish. This has great potential.Inc. VAT£1,741.24 -
Decanter (96)
Combe Aux Moines is something of a signature wine from Fourrier alongside his Clos-St-Jacques. Reflecting its elevated position, this is a bright, aromatic, wonderfully refreshing style with some ferrous notes and a smooth, balanced finish.Inc. VAT£271.32 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)
(5-Star wine) A rich even purple colour. The bouquet is very classy, in a restrained but refined manner suggesting more opulence to come. Just a touch of pepper. Dark raspberry, complex, juicy, structured, it is all there with a persistence that outstrips the other Gevrey 1ers crus tasted to date.Inc. VAT£277.32 -

(12x75cl) 2022Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)
5 Star Wine. Rich bright purple. A little more solid in depth of fruit, a fine dense dark purple company, with an attractive fresh crunch to the tannins. Excellent energy on the second half of the palate, a terrific Gevrey in the making. Drink from 2030-2037.Inc. VAT£3,569.20 -

(6x75cl) 2005Vinous (92)
Good deep red with ruby highlights. Dark raspberry, blackberry, mocha and minerals on the nose. Sweet and rich but fresh, with terrific sappy intensity to the dark fruit flavors. Wonderfully supple and smooth on the back end, finishing with ripe, broad tannins. Today the wine's volume completely hides its underlying spine.Inc. VAT£3,237.89 -
(6x75cl) 2017Vinous (91-93)
They 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru has an elegant and refined bouquet with pretty red cherries, raspberry preserve and rose petals scents - one of the most charming from Fourrier this year. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite tensile from the start and there is a spicy undercurrent that becomes more noticeable towards the finish. There is fine tension and energy here, with a potent peppery aftertaste. Good potential.Inc. VAT£1,758.00 -
(1x75cl) 2018Vinous (91-93)
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru is very floral and perfumed on the nose, so much so that if served blind I might guess it came from Vosne-Romanée. The lightly spiced palate is well balanced, with ripe black cherry and wild strawberry fruit and a touch of blood orange toward a finish of moderate length. This just needs to shake off its conservatism.Inc. VAT£393.20 -

Vinous (90-92)
Good deep red. Reduced nose dominated by smoked meat. Then deep, ripe and aromatic in the mouth, with a blackberry flavor complicated by a gamey nuance. Concentrated, fine-grained and sappy, conveying a glyceral impression. Finishes quite suave and expressive, with broad, fine tannins and lovely lingering perfume.Inc. VAT£1,942.32 -
Wine Advocate (92)
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes is excellent, unfurling in the glass with a complex bouquet of dark chocolate, cassis, wild berries and plums. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a layered core of crunchy fruit, fine structuring tannins and a long, sapid finish. While this is very elegant in style this year, it has more than enough substance to evolve in bottle for two decades or more.Inc. VAT£1,270.32 -
(3x75cl) 2017Vinous (91-93)
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru already has a cohesive, quite intense bouquet with violet petals that infuse the blueberry and black cherry fruit, just a hint of vanilla from the wood that will be assimilated by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-like freshness. There is plenty of blood orange towards the structured finish that feels precise and mineral-driven. Excellent.Inc. VAT£678.36 -
(12x75cl) 2018Vinous (89-91)
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru feels a little reduced on the nose at first, but eventually black cherries, iodine and violet aromas begin to make their presence felt. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, strict and linear and perhaps not quite "kicking on" toward the finish, leaving you wanting more. Has it got something up its sleeve?Inc. Vinous (92-94)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru has an almost Morey-like personality on the nose: dark berry fruit, granitic scents, touches of forest floor and wild mushroom. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, clean and crisp, not a powerful Gevrey-Chambertin, but precise and quite pixelated towards the finish. Give this 4-6 years in bottle.Inc. VAT£198.12 -

Ruby crimson in colour. Very perfumed, this is striking and stylish. A full soft sensual and stylish mid palate, grows in stature, a complex structure at the back, some crunchy qualities to the tannins, good acidity and very persistent. Drink from 2030-2037.Inc. VAT£237.59 -
(12x75cl) 2009Wine Advocate (94)
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots is rich, ripe, sensual and totally inviting. The fruit is round and very beautiful, but the wine is so young I can only imagine what might develop in the coming years. The fruit positively explodes on the finish, where floral, spiced overtones add the final layers of complexity. This is a stunning bottle in every way. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.Inc. VAT£5,068.57 -
(6x75cl) 2011Vinous (92-94)
The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots stands out for its aromatic lift and pure expressiveness. The Goulots blossoms in all directions, with layers of bright, intensely perfumed fruit and compelling overall balance. Seamless and beautiful, the 2011 impresses for its exceptional overall harmony. The cool site on the top of the slope complements some of the more overt qualities of the year. Sweet dark cherries, mint and cloves flow through to the inviting finish.Inc. VAT£1,380.80 -
Vinous (91-94)
Dark red with ruby highlights. Aromas of blueberry, raspberry, leather and game, lifted by a crushed stone element. In a supple, ripe style, but with terrific sappy intensity and lift to the crushed raspberry and mineral flavors. The tannins are fine-grained and sweet. A stunning example of this calcaire-rich premier cru.Inc. VAT£1,344.48 -
(6x75cl) 2016Vinous (91-93)
Good bright-medium red. Tight, dark aromas of black fruits and licorice pastille lifted by a whiff of cranberry. Ripe and broad, but with terrific inner-mouth floral lift and a rocky pungency. Tannins are fully ripe and fine-grained. Offers a rather exhilarating--and uncommon--combination of cooler flavors and full phenolic ripeness. This wine comes from a very cool, east-facing site planted on rock, which had difficulty ripening its fruit prior to global warming. A tighter, more intellectual style than the Champeaux: Fourrier loves the Goulots with sushi, while he'd pair the Champeaux with a rib-eye steak.Inc. VAT£1,535.52
