Wine Advocate (97)
Destined at some point for auction, the 75 liters of Fritz Haag 2009 Braunebeger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese present a semi-tropical effusion of peach preserves, papaya, and pink grapefruit, all slathered in honey and overlain by wood smoke and truffle. As noted in a couple of other instances in the present collection, there is greater opulence but also more prominent – or at least, a more detached sense of – acidity than in the corresponding Juffer, while the latter displays greater levity and poise. Still, there is overwhelming richness and amazing persistence to the flavors here simultaneous with intense citricity; and yet more awe-inspiring than today’s performance is the thought that this will surely display even greater complexity and more refined comportment over the course of its next half century or so.Inc. Still, there is overwhelming richness and amazing persistence to the flavors here simultaneous with intense citricity; and yet more awe-inspiring than today’s performance is the thought that this will surely display even greater complexity and more refined comportment over the course of its next half century or so.In Bond£1,237.00 -

The 2018 Fugue de Nenin is composed of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, with 14.4% alcohol. Grapes were harvested September 13 to October 12, with yields of 33.8 hectoliter per hectare. The wine is to be aged in barriques, 25% new—the finished blend was put into barrels last December. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with gregarious black cherries, redcurrant jelly and warm plums scents with nuances of dark chocolate, cloves and anise. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers lovely rounded tannins and a lively line of freshness supporting the crunchy red and black fruits, finishing with an herbal lift.In Bond£174.00 -
