Wine Advocate (94)
Derived principally from the 2021 vintage vinified in tank and complemented by 28% of the 2020 harvest matured in oak, the latest release of the NV Blanc de Blancs Le Cotet originates from the lower-lying, chalkier sector of the vineyard in front of Lassaigne's winery, where scarcely 15 centimeters of topsoil overlay the bedrock. True to style, it also incorporates approximately 10% of already-bottled Champagnes that have been disgorged and reintegrated into tank. Disgorged à la volée in July 2025, it bursts from the glass with scents of nashi pear, lemon oil and green apple, mingling with pastry nuances and framed by youthful reduction. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, incisive and precise, with a crystalline core of fruit and ample extract, underpinned by mouthwatering acidity and culminating in a long, saline finish.Inc. Decanter (93)
The nose of this blanc de blancs is appealingly ripe but not overly so, with a pleasant balance of apple, lemon peel and apricot touched with a gentle note of autolysis. The texture of the mousse is creamy, and the feel is supple and silky without any heaviness. The base wines are one-third each from 2017, 2018 and 2019. Grapes are blended from sources throughout the village and aged on the lees in tank and barrel for more than a year before tirage. Delicious.Inc. VAT£354.04 -

The 2020 Monthélie Les Champs Fulliot 1er Cru comes from organic purchased fruit. There is touch of a reduction on the nose, touches of cherry liqueur and strawberry, the 30% new oak nicely integrated. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, slightly lower acidity than some of Parent’s other cuvées with a smooth finish. Will be difficult to resist in its youth.Inc. VAT£533.60 -

The 2020 Pommard Les Rugiens is 100% whole bunch with 50% new oak, from purchased grapes whereby Anne Parent conducts the picking. It has a ripe black cherry and boysenberry scented bouquet with touches of black pepper and clove. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent entry, quite fleshy and expressive, but here, I am seeking just a little more precision o the finish, like the Les Epenots.Inc. VAT£1,330.40 -

Outstanding. A much more floral-suffused nose speaks of more elegant aromas of various dark berries, anise and discreet earth wisps. The sleek, intense and precise medium weight flavors possess a beguiling mid-palate texture before concluding in a slightly more complex, balanced and sneaky long finish. Champs Pimont always ages well and there is no reason that this shouldn't do so as well.Inc. VAT£424.78 -

The 2018 Beaune Clos de la Féguine 1er Cru is completely de-stemmed and matured in 25% new oak. It has an attractive bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit plus a little earthiness coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins and quite sturdy. (includes some tiny grapes from old vines in Clos de Beze; 2005 was the last year in which the estate offered separate Chambertin and Clos de Beze bottlings): Medium red. Complex, soil-inflected aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, mocha, smoke, dried rose, licorice and menthol. Silky and rather delicate for Chambertin, with exotic cherry liqueur and raspberry flavors lifted by spices and complicated by a saline element. The very long finish features suave tannins and strong stony minerality. Lovely understated Chambertin with the balance to age well.Inc. VAT£3,472.40 -

Full red. Aromas of medicinal black cherry, licorice and menthol are quite reticent compared to those of the Charmes. Suave and penetrating on the palate, displaying enticing violet lift to the pure aromas of black fruits and game. Firm tannins and strong acidity clamp down on the chiseled, energetic, very long finish, which offers a refined hint of black pepper Juicy, savory Chambertin with nothing hard about it.Inc. The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru, which is completely de-stemmed, has quite an understated, elegant bouquet for this vineyard, hints of salted liquorice infusing the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin - an assertive Chambertin that feels strict and, unlike the aromatics, quite penetrating. Yet, I seek a little more nuance and preferably more red fruit towards the finish. It just needs to loosen its tie.Inc. VAT£2,959.24 -
