Ripe melon, honeyed mint, flowers, and chalky minerality all shine in the 2022 Clos Des Lunes Lune D'Or Blanc, another gorgeous example of this cuvée that's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, elegant mouthfeel, remarkable purity, and a great finish. It might be the finest vintage I've tasted of this cuvée, and it’s a serious white that’s going to age gracefully. Based on 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, it will benefit from a year or two of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following decade. In Bond£177.50 -

Grip evident right from the first nose, and they have succeeded in keeping the high quality of Clos Floridène even in a challenging year for whites. This is great, controlled release of slate, white flowers, white pear, nectarine flavours, excellent juicy quality, impressive. One to look out for - but as with all 2022 whites, do make sure you serve cold. A buy.In Bond£207.00 -

Orange blossoms, honeycomb, ming flowers, and caramelized peach are just some of the nuances in the 2022 Clos Haut-Peyraguey, a ripe, round, full-bodied Sauternes that's balanced, has the vintage's richer, opulent style, and a great finish. It’s beautifully done, and while I love it today, it will clearly evolve gracefully over the coming two decades. In Bond£204.00 -

The 2022 Bonneau from Closiot has a little more complexity on the nose compared to others in this flight, with acacia honey, lanolin and orange pith scents. Fine delineation, if missing a bit of vigour. The palate is well balanced with a viscous texture, one of the few wines in this flight with acidity. Gentle grip with a marmalade-tinged finish. Enjoy this over the next 15 to 20 years. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London. In Bond£1,000.00 -

Looking at the 2022 Château Cos D'Estournel, this awesome Saint-Estèphe checks in as a normal blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that spent 18 months in 50% new oak. Remarkably concentrated yet with a graceful elegance, it has sensational cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and subtle tobacco-driven aromatics, full-bodied richness, a deeply layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a monumental finish. Hitting 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.79, it's as good a Cos d'Estournel as has ever been made. It actually has ample upfront appeal yet won't hit the early stages of its prime drinking window for another decade, and it will have 50-75 years of overall longevity. In Bond£1,058.50 -

A blend of 94% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, and 1% Muscadelle, with 158 g/L residual sugar, the 2022 Coutet is pale to medium straw in color. After a little swirling, the nose erupts with gorgeous lime cordial, fresh grapefruit, and mandarin peel scents, followed by wafts of wet pebbles, freshly shaved ginger, and beeswax. The palate is vibrant and shimmery with fantastic intensity and tension, finishing long and layered. In Bond£194.00 -

The 2022 Opalie certainly has one of the better aromatics, quite complex with touches of beeswax and linden, well defined with a little more energy than its peers. The palate is well balanced, with a welcome hint of bitter lemon, good weight and a slightly tangy finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London. In Bond£1,000.00 -

A perfect Yquem again after the 2021, which is fresher and more refined than the 2022. The perception of sweetness is super-knit. Lots of botrytis, with turmeric, saffron, cream, roasted meringue, pine nuts, spices and dried mangoes. This is a powerful, seductive and lush wine. Ornamented and richer this year than 2021, but there is so much charm and harmony. Long and spicy, with a hint of petrol at the end. Wow. The second most concentrated Yquem after 1945, according to the winemaker. About 160 grams of residual sugar. So approachable now, but better in five or six years. It will live forever. In Bond£1,350.00 -
