Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (93)One to look out for, with juicy uplift and white flower blossom aromatics, a ton of supple textured white peach fruits, with a kick of lime zest and bitter lemon curd. Great quality, impressive reflection of the excellent white terroir at this estate. 30hl/h yield. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)From this 92-hectare estate, the 2022 Carbonnieux is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, matured in 40% new oak in 225-liter barrels. The bouquet offers up elegant and vibrant aromas of cassis, blueberry, iris, violet and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is perfectly balanced, concentrated and fleshy ,with velvety tannins and excellent concentration. This is an excellent Carbonnieux—indeed, it may be one of the best of modern times. |

Wine Advocate (94-96+)The cumulative rainfall at Château Fieuzal was only 385 millimeters in 2022, compared to 753 millimeters in 2021 and 743 millimeters in 2020. But this did not prevent Stephen Carrier and his team from making a fresh and energetic 2022 de Fieuzal, bursting with aromas of violet, iris, menthol and crunchy wild berries mingled with hints of coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, it's pristinely balanced and beautifully layered, exhibiting a vibrant palate that's deep, tensile and elegant, concluding with a mouthwateringly mineral finish. This estate is achieving things no one would have thought possible a decade ago. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)A blend of 55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Sémillon, the 2022 de Fieuzal Blanc exhibits aromas of spring flowers, lemon oil, al dente pear and peach with flinty hints. Juicy, round and deep, fleshy and fresh with a medium to full-bodied palate, it has a slightly phenolic finish. The aging process should reduce the slight austerity and bring more flesh and substance. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98-100)The 2022 Château Haut-Bailly is going to be one of the legendary vintages at this château, and it should be a no-brainer purchase for readers. Based on 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, it has an incredible perfume of cassis, ripe black cherries, crushed stone, smoke tobacco, and wood smoke. Earning more than a few expletives in my notes, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and ultra-fine, silky tannins. Hold onto your hats, ladies and gentlemen, this is an incredible wine in the making! |

The Wine Independent (97-99+)Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Haut-Brion is a blend of 53.6% Merlot, 35.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Cabernet Franc aging in 62.9% new oak. The nose is typically closed and broody, requiring a lot of shaking to wake up enticing notes of iron ore, red roses, lavender, mint tea, and forest floor, leading to a tantalizing core of plum preserves and blueberry pie. The medium to full-bodied palate is very tightly knit with vibrant black and blue fruit layers and red berry sparks, framed by very fine-grained tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long and minerally. A classic, breath-taking expression of Haut-Brion, I expect this to remain shy and restrained for the first 10 years so in bottle, and then watch it soar. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (92)A shade lighter than many in the appellation, still clear ripeness to the plum colour, this is enjoyable, not quite as much depth as some but that actually fills a gap in this vintage, where there is a lack of unfussy, well balanced, good quality wines that won't need a pick axe to get through the tannins. Measured extraction here, raspberry fruits, raspberry leaf, tobacco, white pepper spice, sticky tannins but overall a feeling that they are not pushing too hard and rather sticking closely to the estate signature. Jacques Lurton heads up this fast-improving estate. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (92)Pale gold in colour, this has enjoyable yellow peach and white pear fruit character, some tart acidities that cut through the fleshy ripeness of the vintage, with gunsmoke and cut grass aromatics - capturing more varietal signature than many in the vintage. Vinous - Neal Martin (97-99)The 2022 La Mission Haut-Brion is matured in 70% new oak. It has a very refined bouquet with mineral-driven dark berry fruit, hints of Earl Grey and freshly-rolled tobacco, focused with exquisite delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that still provide the backbone to what is the most elegant La Missions that I have tasted at this stage. It is harmonious and silky toward its extremely persistent finish. At the moment, it has got its nose just in front of its First Growth sibling...at least at the moment. For sure, it's going to be one of the standouts of the 2022 vintage. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95-97)The 2022 Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc is mostly Sémillon (72%), and compared to its big brother, the Haut-Brion Blanc, it's more closed and inward, with classic Sémillon power and richness. Ripe melon, white flowers, honeyed minerality, and chalky notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a great mid-palate and outstanding length. It's a downright mineral bomb on the finish and is a brilliant white in the making. |

The Wine Independent (92-94+)Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Larrivet Haut-Brion Rouge gallops out of the glass with powerful notes of blackcurrant pastilles, juicy blueberries, and blackberry preserves, leading to an undercurrent of clove oil, dark chocolate, and roses. The medium to full-bodied palate has a solid frame of fine-grained tannins and plenty of freshness to support the generous black fruits, finishing long and fragrant. Nicely done! |
