Winehog (93)
This is a special wine, made from a selection of individual vines in Hautes Maizières that are more than 60 years old. There’s 100% new oak, but it is very discreet. It shows deep red fruit, and on the nose darker red roses. Intense and profound, this is charming and floral. Like the others, 100% “tri en nuage.”Inc. VAT£1,321.92 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)
A glowing pale yellow. Super-concentrated if not yet very yielding bouquet. Extra tension here, certainly some depth, but perhaps more in class than power. That will change with time – the class with remain but the depth will expand. White fruit, tension, some youthful bitters, but keeping itself to itself for the moment. Really very long finish though. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted: December 2023.Inc. VAT£614.93 -

The 2022 Meursault Clos Richemont 1er Cru is a dense, opulent white built on texture more than anything else. It is one of the most overt wines in the Boillot range. Orange jam, spice, vanillin, lemon confit and baked apple tart infuse the 2022 with tons of textural intensity. This is such a distinctive wine.Inc. VAT£803.15 -
Vinous (94-96)
The 2022 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a complex, dynamic wine. I especially admire its focus. Pear, slate, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all hover across the palate in a Meursault that marries fruit richness with layers of depth and explosive energy. In other words, classic Genevrières. The 2022 is quite reticent today, but I take that as a positive sign for the future. What a gorgeous wine this is.Inc. VAT£199.46 -

5 Star Wine. All domaine fruit now, from Les Chevalières, Luraule. Pelles, Casses Têtes, Petits Charrons. Pale to medium lemon yellow. A generous bouquet speaking clearly of Meursault. A broad bench of ripe white apple fruit with excellent energy, good acidity behind, and notable persistence. Very Meursault and quite delicious. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted: December 2023.Inc. 1.5 barrels. Fullish yellow with ripe fruit, a touch of bacon fat along with Jerusalem artichokes. As well as the beautiful quality of fruit there is a saline touch. Certainly complex, not monstrously massive, showing more today than the Bâtard but there is correspondingly even more to come. Fresh white fruit at the very finish. Drink from 2030-2040. Vinous - Neal Martin (92-94)
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru had been racked the previous week, but it was essentially the final wine I tasted as it was just about to be bottled. It has a stricter and more backward bouquet than the Chênes Carteaux: blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, the 20% new oak neatly folded in. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins, leaning more towards black fruit laced with tar and tobacco. Quite Morey-like towards the finish with impressive persistence. Give this two or three years in bottle to shave the edges. Very fine.Inc. VAT£413.15 -

Still in barrel. An intense deep purple. A little wood alongside the relatively heady fruit. Quite ripe, super succulent, plenty of plums, yet with some mineral tannins at the back which require longer elevage. The tannins are on the firmer side. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted: November 2023.Inc. VAT£1,223.15 -

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a very complex bouquet, a mix of red and black fruit, crushed flowers, and hints of spice coming through with aeration. This seems to "grow" in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins. It’s very pure, so pure that it almost disguises the backbone of this Les Saint-Georges, gaining depth towards the finish with touches of pain d'épice and white pepper. An excellent NSG that will repay cellaring.Inc. VAT£1,180.75 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)
(5 Star Wine) 30% new wood. Fresh mid purple. The bouquet is wonderfully lifted, Antoine explains they use a particularly light hand with this cuvee to avoid the potential austerity. The acidity is fine and the tannins are ripe, while there is still that clear backbone to the fruit which Vaucrains should have. Very persistent, and such high-class fruit. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: November 2023.Inc. VAT£560.76 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-92)
Racked, and thus fully blended, to be bottled by the end of November. Mid purple, with a perfumed dark red fruit. Vigorous, well-balanced tannins, and good but not trenchant acidity. A fine long finish which remains fresh even though the fruit is clearly ripe. Very persistent. Drink from 2029-2037. Tasted: November 2023.Inc. VAT£310.32 -
Imbued with a rich bouquet of cherry and sous-bois, the Henri Jouan Chambolle-Musigny 2022 is indeed a top-tier offering for devoted oenophiles. This prodigious red emerges from the prestigious vineyards of Chambolle-Musigny, situated in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy, France, where the winemaker Henri Jouan meticulously cultivates Pinot Noir at its pinnacle.
Expect a wine of extraordinary depth, elegantly embodying the duality of power and finesse. Hand-harvested and traditionally fermented, the Henri Jouan Chambolle-Musigny 2022 presents inimitable varietal purity with its feast of finesse. Refined oak aging carefully cultivates its peerless potential.
Respected wine connoisseurs champion Henri Jouan for his exceptionally non-intrusive winemaking; truly allowing the complex qualities of terroir to shine through each bottle. Order the Henri Jouan Chambolle-Musigny 2022 to experience a luminous display of Burgundy's vinous virtuosity at its finest.

(5-Star) Also a glowing youthful purple. There is an excellent intensity of dark berry fruit on both nose and palate, clearly displaying more muscle than her 2023 Echezeaux yet without any sense of heat. Fine concentration, a first class, balanced and succulent Echezeaux. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted Mar 2025.Inc. VAT£5,145.20 -
Vinous (93-95)
The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comprises two barrels, one new and one a year old. It has quite a backward nose, more tertiary in style, quite flinty, in fact. Blind, I would not guess this to be from this vineyard at all. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe black cherry and boysenberry fruit, fine mineralité and backbone. This is much more open, fanning out with style towards the finish that has just the right amount of edge. It's very fine but will require bottle age to unlock the aromatics.Inc. VAT£1,174.00 -
Vinous (91-93)
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru comes from two barrels and is aged in 25% new oak. This is much more complex and nuanced on the nose than the Vieilles Vignes: very focused with ebullient red fruit laced with violet. The palate is medium-bodied with good density on the entry. It's quite structured for a Chambolle with some firm tannins on the finish, but sufficient fruit keeps it balanced and poised.Inc. VAT£576.80 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from six parcels from around the appellation. There is a touch of reduction on the nose, dark berry fruit mixed with iris flower and a touch of pencil box. A little introspective at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied entry, quite sweet with a lot of sucrosity. Maybe that detracts from its complexity towards the finish, which tapers when you want it to fan out. It's not bad, but it needs to gain some flesh in the coming months.Inc. VAT£402.72 -

Lovely glowing purple, this is very sensual with an immediate red fruit charm. Very pretty yet with a fresh intensity, redcurrant and raspberry, above all a sense of purity and energy. This will make a beautiful Chambolle. Drink from 2028-2033.Inc. VAT£576.80 -

(5-Star Wine) A pleasing ruby colour. The bouquet shows the perfect match of Vosne hedonistic fruit with the extra weight of Nuits-St-Georges. Fruit floods the palate, dark raspberry, a light acidity, tannins submerged beneath the fruit, a light touch of oak, and remarkably persistent. Very fine indeed. Enjoy it because two thirds of the plot on 161/49 rootstock was taken out after the 2022 harvest. Drink from 2032-2040.Inc. VAT£439.60 -
