Here too the ultra-fresh and beautifully perfumed nose offers up pure liqueur-like aromas of essence of red cherry that are cut with a plenitude of floral, especially rose petal and lavender, spice and exotic tea nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The mouthfeel of the medium weight and overtly mineral-driven flavors is strikingly refined while delivering equally superb length on the almost painfully intense and beautifully delineated and youthfully austere finish. Sheer class and textbook Amoureuses.

Burghound (94)

(from a 1.75 ha parcel of vines averaging 40+ years of age). A cool, elegant and airy nose reflects notes of both red and blue pinot fruit, exotic tea and plenty of floral whiffs, particularly violet and lavender. The sleek and sophisticated medium weight flavors exude an almost palpable minerality as the mouthfeel is akin to rolling tiny pebbles around the mouth, all wrapped into dusty, palate soaking and beautifully long finale. This is outstanding though a wine that will need at least some patience.

A light ruby purple. The bouquet is immediate and very seductive, doing its Charmes thing. Roses and red fruit, especially strawberry. Fills the mouth seductively, continuing through to a fine finish, not too much acidity, refined tannins, very agreeable. And excellent persistence. Drink from 2029-2038. Tasted: November 2023.

Burghound (90-93)

This is also aromatically really fresh with its blend of dark raspberry, violet and a crushed fennel aromas. The mouthfeel of the slightly richer flavors is also caressing but here there is a subtle minerality on the lacy, balanced and youthfully austere finale that delivers slightly better persistence. Textbook Chatelots.

Vinous (94-96)

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru bides its time unfolding in the glass, eventually revealing earthy red fruit, clove and hints of bergamot. This is very complex, but it is not a flashy Chambolle. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry. It has crisp acidity and is nicely structured with one of the most sapid finishes from the Domaine. This is one of their finest offerings in this vintage.

Vinous (92-94)

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru has a spicy bouquet that takes time to cohere in the glass. Dark cherries, pain d'épice and dried flowers unfold in the glass. The palate is perhaps the most marine-influenced of the cuvées. Rather foursquare perhaps: it's tightly wound and slightly conservative towards the finish, yet feels long in the mouth. Very fine…but you must be patient.

(5 Star Wine) Mid purple. A very stylish perfumed Chambolle fruit of medium plus density. This is quite delicious in the mouth and seems relatively approachable. Raspberries and violets with a fine sense of precision, adequate acidity and very long. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: November 2023.

The Gibryotte Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022 is the epitome of refined indulgence, encapsulating the ethos of Domaine Gibryotte, well-regarded for its meticulous, non-interventionist approach to wine production.

Vinous - Neal Martin (93-95)

The 2022 Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru takes a little more time to open on the nose than Picq's other cuvées but eventually reveals eucalyptus-tinged citrus fruit flanked by wet stone aromas. The palate is very well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, very saline but with a countervailing, almost honeyed element keeping this on its toes. This is a brilliant follow-up to the 2021.

Vinous (92-94)

At the moment, the 2022 Chablis Au Dessus des Carrières is stoic on the nose compared to Picq's other cuvées, despite both of us giving our glasses vigorous swirls. The palate is where the action is: great concentration and depth, hints of white peach and nectarine, the power loaded at its back end. Give this two or three years in bottle.

100% mixed forests, to bottle in April. Fine mid purple. The nose is not so drop dead stunning as the Clos Vougeot but it is still impressive, and then the palate delivers yet more. Some rose petals, some vibrant deep red fruit, chiselled and intense at the same time, nuanced without latticework. Then a firm structure. Looks like becoming a great wine but under the cosh from the Clos Vougeot this year. But there is a breadth of fruit here nonetheless. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted: November 2023.

This has a much denser texture than used to be the case, and a superb fruit acid balance. Extremely impressive for village Morey blanc. A wine which will develop in time. Drink from 2026-2032. Pinot blanc, filtered but not fined, and ready to bottle. 30% new wood and 13.46% alcohol. This is the first time this wine has hit the yield since he purchased the vineyard in 2006. The palate fills out gorgeously, while there is a fine chiselled fresh finish. Both halves of the equation work. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted: November 2023.

40% new wood, December bottling. Far from the deepest in colour, but definitely not the least elegant either! Rose petals abound. A few fresh alpine strawberries too. This has remarkable tension on the palate and is almost as nuanced as an Echezeaux (at least as, Jean-Pierre thinks!). Certainly there is a gorgeous, almost glossy aftertaste. Highest pH. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted: November 2023.

This is a special wine, made from a selection of individual vines in Hautes Maizières that are more than 60 years old. There’s 100% new oak, but it is very discreet. It shows deep red fruit, and on the nose darker red roses. Intense and profound, this is charming and floral. Like the others, 100% “tri en nuage.”
