Wine Advocate (92-94)

A fabulous white wine from Malartic’s 17.5 acres of white grapes, this blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Semillon hit 13.5% natural alcohol. It offers plenty of fresh fig, honeysuckle and orange blossom notes in a dense, concentrated, rich style. The wine’s beautiful acidity and fragrance confirm that this was one of the finest white wines produced in Bordeaux in 2013. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)

The 2017 Malartic-Lagravière Blanc has a very impressive bouquet with flinty, citrus fruit that evolves more discrete tropical scents with aeration, hints of dried honey, lime and mango emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite saline in the mouth and fine weight. A precise and quite sustained finish. This has great potential and it may improve with continued bottle age. That said, it will be irresistible in its youth.

This is very framed and beautiful. Tannin tension, in a very fine and polished way. It’s full-bodied, yet agile and almost weightless. Long and persistent with great finesse and structure. 89% sauvignon blanc and 11% semillon.

James Suckling (95-96)

A beautifully structured and complex white with pristine, bright citrus fruit and an exotic touch. There’s a mineral character to it, too, with oyster-shell and crushed-stone notes. It’s medium- to full-bodied with racy acidity that adds energy and tension. Very long finish with fine tannins that frame it nicely.

This is one of the more finessed and well expressed examples of powerful cassis and blackberry fruits in 2017. I love the sense of energy and juice that sits beneath the fruit - again, not something that you are seeing everywhere. A good job from Olivier, even if it hasn't quite reached the heights of 2015 and 2016. Very satisfying, and should develop nicely over next few years.
