Finishes with fine, integrated tannins and lovely persistence. The 2002 shows a more obvious structure today, but this is subtle and silky.

  • La Tour Figeac 2021 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)

The 2021 La Tour Figeac is a mid-weight, gracious Saint-Émilion. Pretty floral accents and a host of Cabernet Franc inflections lend nuance throughout. Sweet red berry fruit, dried herbs and mocha are laced throughout. There's lovely precision and fine balance here.

  • La Tour Haut-Brion 2001 (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (89-91)

Good medium-deep red. Ripe merlot notes of smoky raspberry and mocha dominate the nose. Fat, full and generous; lush and sweet. Very suave wine, with notes of minerals and hot bricks. Finishes with fine, integrated tannins and lovely persistence. The 2002 shows a more obvious structure today, but this is subtle and silky.

  • La Vieille Cure 2017 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2017

    Jeb Dunnuck (92)

Deep purple-hued, the 2017 Chateau La Vieille Cure (75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon) is a stunning success in the vintage. Notes of cassis, leafy herbs, tobacco, and spice all emerge from the glass, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, ripe, textured, balanced, and nicely textured. With good acidity and a great finish, it's a smoking effort to drink over the coming 10-12 years.

Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years. This is a selection of some of our favourite vintages from Bordeaux over the last few decades, as well some more recent ones.
