  • Brane-Cantenac 2022 (1x600cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (99)

A brilliant, borderline perfect wine, the 2022 Château Brane-Cantenac is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Carménère, and 1% Petit Verdot that was aged 18 months in 100% new French oak. Insanely good blue fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and damp earth define the aromatics, and it builds beautifully with air, showing intensity, depth, purity, and complexity. Just gorgeous on the palate as well, it's full-bodied and has a deep, layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, perfectly integrated acidity, and flawless balance. Back up the truck on this beauty. It will have a broad drinking window and should cruise for 40+ years. Drink 2026-2066. The 2022 was harvested from September 7 to October 10, hitting 14.3% alcohol with a pH of 3.61.

  • Brane-Cantenac 2023 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2023

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96+)

The 2023 Brane-Cantenac is deep, bold and explosive, yet also closed in on itself. That won't be a problem in another few years' time, but today, the Grand Vin is embryonic. Time in the glass brings out dark red fruit, cedar, tobacco, dried herbs, mint and spice. Brane-Cantenac remains a wine of timeless classicism, a wine that embodies all the beauty and charm that only Bordeaux is capable of. Floral notes lift the dense, sustained finish. Superb.

  • Brane-Cantenac Blanc 2019 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (92)

A classic Bordeaux Blanc with its honeyed grapefruit, melon, and minty herb aromas and flavors, the 2019 Château Brane-Cantenac Blanc is medium-bodied, has both richness and freshness, and a great finish. It's beautifully balanced and well worth checking out. It's going to have a decade or so of longevity.
  • Branon 2005 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2005

    Wine Advocate (96+)

This small jewel of a property owned by the Garcin family has been making great wine for a number of years, with the only problem being its very limited availability. Their beautifully deep 2005 has a dark purple color and displays charcoal, blackberry and cassis fruit, with some smoky barbecue notes in the background. This full-bodied, opulent wine is still youthful at age 10, and promises to continue to evolve for another 15-20 years. Pure and stunning, this is a great wine of the vintage.
  • Branon 2009 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

This magnificent, dense plum/purple-colored Pessac-Leognan reveals notes of scorched earth, burning embers, blackberries and truffles. Composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from a vineyard gorgeously situated between Malartic Lagraviere and Haut-Bailly, it possesses full-bodied power, a stunningly intense, voluptuous, layered mouthfeel and abundant levels of fruit, glycerin and tannin. The 2009 ranks alongside the magnificent 2000, which is aging at a glacial pace. Unfortunately, proprietress Helene Garcin only produces around 500 cases of this somewhat cult-ish Pessac-Leognan. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2040.

  • Branon 2010 (6x75cl)
    (6x75cl) 2010

    Wine Advocate (97)

Once again in 2010, notes of mocha, espresso roast, chocolate, creme de cassis and scorched earth soar from this opaque purple-colored wine. It is aged in 100% new oak, but that is hardly noticeable given the wine’s sensational richness and extravagant fruit. This wine is classic, full-bodied and intense. It’s just a shame that less than 8,000 bottles are usually made. This wine is still backward, but very full, rich, and impressively pure in texture. Give it another 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 20+ years.
  • Brillette 2016 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2016

    Vinous - Neal Martin (89)

The 2016 Brillette offers blackberry and raspberry on the nose, rose petals and a splash of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite rounded in the mouth with good volume, slightly lower in acidity than its peers but there is still admirable detail on the finish. Drink over the next decade. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.
  • Brisson 2005 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2005

Discerning palates will find exquisite pleasure in the Brisson 2005. An outstanding vintage of fine French wine, the Brisson 2005 captures the essence of the renowned Bordeaux region, specifically the distinctive terroir of Côtes de Bordeaux. This full-bodied beauty was meticulously produced by renowned vintner, Georges Brisson, the embodiment of generations of winemaking expertise.

Sourced from 35-year-old vines and aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, the Brisson 2005 offers an incredible burst of intense, rich flavours. Combining 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, it exhibits a harmonious blend of dark fruits, plump blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherry, refined tannins and a hint of spicy oak. In the mouth, it’s smooth and velvety, with a long finish that sows a delightful trace of dark chocolate and coffee.

Enhance your wine collection with the Brisson 2005; a remarkable enigma wrapped in surprise and refined sophistication.

  • Brown 2018 (6x150cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (90)

The 2018 Château Brown is well defined on the nose, offering plenty of black fruit laced with hints of espresso and dark chocolate, and just a faint star anise note hovering on the background. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly gritty tannins on the entry, fine acidity and nice focus. Though it misses some depth and flesh toward the finish, it does have a spring in its step and it should drink nicely for 12–15 years.

  • Brown 2019 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2019

    Vinous - Neal Martin (90)

The 2019 Château Brown has a mélange of red and black fruit on the nose, touches of espresso and tobacco emerging with time. Perhaps I was anticipating a little more complexity given the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied and quite saline, with a peppery opening, good tension, fine grip and decent length on the finish. Hopefully the aromatics will up its game, as this certainly has potential.

  • Brown 2020 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (86-88)

The 2020 Château Brown was picked from September 15 to October 1, cropped at 35hl/ha and matured in one-third new oak. It offers dark berry fruit on the nose mixed with espresso and light tobacco scents, perhaps lacking a little focus. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. The oak needs to be more in sync with the fruit and there is just a patina of dryness toward the finish. I would aver that the previous two vintages have the upper hand.

Bordeaux's relatively diverse weather, particularly its rainfall, means that vintage variation can be quite broad between some years. However advances in wine making techniques, technology and investment has meant that many chateaux are still able to create very good wines in "lesser vintages". From the best vintages wines are made that are clambered for all over the world and mature excellently for many years. This is a selection of some of our favourite vintages from Bordeaux over the last few decades, as well some more recent ones.
