Decanter (94)An excellent, structured and captivating Bellefont-Belcier in 2021 having been spared the frosts that ravaged many other estates. Sweet fragrant blackcurrants on the nose, so seductive with perfume and ever so faint bramble tones giving nuance. Smooth, silky, gorgeously textured. Really just a silky carpet of juicy, bright and fresh fruits. The acidity shines through brightly, zesty and lively while the refined tannins give a streamlined structure and support and the concentrated flavours that linger long on the tongue. Mouthwatering with clarity and drive. I like the hints of spice that come through also showing a well balanced touch of oak. Lots going on here - very impressive. Thomas Duclos consultant. A yield of 35hl/ha. 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon - a touch more than usual. |

Wine Advocate (94)The first bottle of 2005 Bellevue that I tasted had a maderized, oxidized nose that was off-putting. This note is from a second bottle. This second bottle showed absolutely no trace of oxidation, but did offer plenty of crushed, chalky minerality, notes of plum, blueberry, black raspberry and cherry fruit, a dense purple color, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and fabulous structure, purity and length. It should drink well for at least another 20+ years. |

Jeb Dunnuck (94-96)I've always enjoyed this wine (I recently finished a case of the 2003, which needs to be drunk up), and the 2019 Château Bellevue showed beautifully. Dense purple-hued with lots of cassis, gravelly earth, violets, and spicy oak, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a soft, opulent mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a beautiful wine in the making and well worth a case purchase. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (92)The 2018 Bellegrave has a wonderful, very pure and enticing bouquet of black cherries, wild strawberry, heather and potpourri scents that blossom in the glass; the oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. This Pomerol is enhanced by a silky-smooth texture and wonderful cohesion on the finish. Simply an excellent, delicious wine from Jean-Marie Bouldy that should give 12–15 years of drinking pleasure. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2019 Bellegrave presents a well-defined nose of blackberry, raspberry, orange peel and light earthy scents. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite juicy at first, yet the structure defines the finish. It will need 4–5 years in the cellar, but there is good potential here. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Bellegrave is well-defined and poised on the nose, blackberry and briary, hints of truffle unfolding with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-infused entry. Quite solid and structured, almost like a "mini-Lafleur", with a well-defined and persistent finish that has splendid mineralité. Very fine. |

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (95)Joint ownership between Pradel de Lavaux and de Boüard de Laforest families, located on the plateau just above Angélus, with clay-limestone cool soils that are planted to 100% Merlot. This is beautifully deep in colour, and the tension and mouth-watering slate minerality that was evident during En Primeur is still here. Creamy blackberry fruits are brushed with smoked caramel, delivered with purity and poise, this is exceptionally good quality, and so different in character from its sister estate Angélus. Second to last vintage for longtime winemaker Emmanuelle Fulchi, showcasing her skills here. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93-95)The 2020 Bellevue is always so seductive out of barrel and this is no different, armed with glorious, extremely pure black cherries, blueberry, crushed violet and iris scents, the oak seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, and quite zesty on the midpalate, revealing veins of blood orange. Cohesive on the finish with a veneer of new oak that will require a few years to be fully assimilated. Lovely. |
