It is well-defined on the nose, offering brambly red berry fruit, incense and light pine cone scents; the sense of airiness here is very appealing. Prieuré-Lichine (Margaux; 65% Cabernet Sauvignon; 30% Merlot; 5% Petit Verdot; 13% alcohol; a final yield of 36 hl/ha; tasted at the UGCB press tasting). Once again, this is very archetypally Margaux. Rose petals and dried rose petals, dried herbs and a touch of violet too. Fresh, bright, crunchy red and darker berry fruit; a little blackcurrant leaf too; and just a hint of fresh tobacco leaf. Very expressive aromatically and very refined on the entry and through the dense and compact (for the vintage) mid-palate; sinuous and quite crystalline. Very sapid and juicy, this is excitingly fresh with a lovely sense of balance on the long finish.

  • Rauzan-Gassies 2021 (12x75cl)

    Jancis Robinson (16.5)

Crimson with a pink rim. Lots of freshness on a lifted nose. Solid rendition with enough fruit for the acidity even if without much distinction or character. No one would be disappointed by this wine. Tannins are ripe enough and not too dominant. A very good effort for this château.

  • Rauzan-Segla 2021 (12x37.5cl)

    Vinous (97)

The 2021 Rauzan-Ségla is impressive. Dark, somber and brooding, the 2021 offers up a heady concoction of black cherry, plum, graphite, new leather, scorched earth, game and tar, all amplified in a dramatic, super-classic Margaux. I would not dream of touching a bottle anytime soon. I loved this en primeur, and I love it just as much today. Élevage made all the difference here. Tasted three times.
