Readers will have to be especially patient, as the 2018 needs time to unwind. Yields are down from an average of 45 hectoliters per hectare to just 26, which no doubt contributes to the wine's natural intensity. The blend is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, in other words, the Cabernet Sauvignon is especially high, a recent trend here because of climate change. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, violets, mint, sage, chocolate, lavender, smoke and tobacco fill out the wine's ample, large-scaled frame with aplomb. There is no shortage of power or intensity. The only question is how long the tannins will need to soften. Today, the Feytit-Clinet is a bruiser. But that doesn't stop it from being both compelling and drop-dead gorgeous. An unquestionable star of the vintage, this 18-acre vineyard is near Trotanoy, Latour a Pomerol and Clinet. The wine is made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 50% of the production made it into the Grand Vin label. Surprisingly it sports a lofty 13.4% natural alcohol. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of plum, blackcurrant, black cherry, incense and camphor, the wine shows surprising depth, a reasonably broad, succulent mouthfeel and a luscious, impressive finish. I love this tiny Pomerol estate, which is brilliantly run by Jeremy Chasseuil. The vineyard covers just over six hectares situated between Trotanoy and Latour A Pomerol, in the Clinet sector of the Pomerol appellation. The 2017 Chateau Feytit-Clinet is mostly Merlot (there’s 7% Cabernet Franc) that spent 16 months in 65% new French oak. It’s never a shy wine, and the 2017 offers loads of ripe black fruits, lavender, orange blossom, and exotic floral and violet aromatics. These carry to a full-bodied Pomerol that has a mouthfilling, expansive texture, ripe, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It offers more fruit, opulence, and sexiness than just about every wine in the vintage. It’s already hard to resist yet will benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades.Inc. From one of my favorite estates in Pomerol, situated between Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol, the 2018 Château Feytit-Clinet is currently sitting at 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc being raised in 70% new French oak. Sporting a deep purple/blue color as well as a massive bouquet of blackberries, smoked herbs, liquid violets, and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a weightless, seamless texture, thrilling purity, and a great, great finish. It’s a powerful wine hitting 14.9% alcohol yet there’s not a trace of heat. Offering beautiful purity and flawless balance, it reminds me of the 2010, only better.Inc. VAT£386.00 -

Jeremy Chasseuil continues to make a brilliant, ripe, incredibly sexy Pomerol that always seems to put a smile on my face. His 2019 Château Feytit-Clinet is inky-hued and has a blockbuster nose of ripe black fruits, damp earth, chocolate, and tobacco. This all carries to a full-bodied Pomerol with background oak, ripe, velvety tannins, a great mid-palate, and one heck of a finish. I wish there were more wines like this in the vintage. This stunning 2008 (14% natural alcohol) is composed of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 1,300 cases were produced of this dense plum/purple-hued offering. It exhibits a big, sweet nose of blackberries, black currants, licorice, smoke and forest floor. The lovely perfume is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine displaying sweet, velvety tannins as well as an endearing personality. The 2012 Feytit-Clinet is one of the more massive, structured Pomerols of the year. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, violets, mint, sage, chocolate, lavender, smoke and tobacco fill out the wine's ample, large-scaled frame with aplomb. There is no shortage of power or intensity. The only question is how long the tannins will need to soften. Today, the Feytit-Clinet is a bruiser. But that doesn't stop it from being both compelling and drop-dead gorgeous. An unquestionable star of the vintage, this 18-acre vineyard is near Trotanoy, Latour a Pomerol and Clinet. The wine is made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 50% of the production made it into the Grand Vin label. Surprisingly it sports a lofty 13.4% natural alcohol. Deep ruby/purple, with notes of plum, blackcurrant, black cherry, incense and camphor, the wine shows surprising depth, a reasonably broad, succulent mouthfeel and a luscious, impressive finish. I love this tiny Pomerol estate, which is brilliantly run by Jeremy Chasseuil. The vineyard covers just over six hectares situated between Trotanoy and Latour A Pomerol, in the Clinet sector of the Pomerol appellation. The 2017 Chateau Feytit-Clinet is mostly Merlot (there’s 7% Cabernet Franc) that spent 16 months in 65% new French oak. It’s never a shy wine, and the 2017 offers loads of ripe black fruits, lavender, orange blossom, and exotic floral and violet aromatics. These carry to a full-bodied Pomerol that has a mouthfilling, expansive texture, ripe, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It offers more fruit, opulence, and sexiness than just about every wine in the vintage. It’s already hard to resist yet will benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades.In Bond£506.00 -

From one of my favorite estates in Pomerol, situated between Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol, the 2018 Château Feytit-Clinet is currently sitting at 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc being raised in 70% new French oak. Sporting a deep purple/blue color as well as a massive bouquet of blackberries, smoked herbs, liquid violets, and graphite, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a weightless, seamless texture, thrilling purity, and a great, great finish. It’s a powerful wine hitting 14.9% alcohol yet there’s not a trace of heat. Offering beautiful purity and flawless balance, it reminds me of the 2010, only better.In Bond£301.00 -

Jeremy Chasseuil continues to make a brilliant, ripe, incredibly sexy Pomerol that always seems to put a smile on my face. His 2019 Château Feytit-Clinet is inky-hued and has a blockbuster nose of ripe black fruits, damp earth, chocolate, and tobacco. This all carries to a full-bodied Pomerol with background oak, ripe, velvety tannins, a great mid-palate, and one heck of a finish. I wish there were more wines like this in the vintage. It offers pleasure today yet will benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and cruise for over two decades. Bravo!In Bond£260.00
