(6x75cl) 2020Vinous (88-90)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a straightforward bouquet with brambly red fruit with a touch of sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly lactic entry, lower in acidity than maybe other cuvées though the fleshiness on the finish is appealing. Quite pure too.Inc. VAT£334.40 -
(6x75cl) 2022Burghound (89-91)
Outstanding. Moderate reduction renders the nose tough to assess today. Otherwise there is good freshness and tension to the solidly concentrated and delineated medium-bodied flavors that exude a more subtle minerality on the firmly austere but not really rustic finale. Good stuff and worth checking out plus it will age.Inc. VAT£312.80 -
(6x75cl) 2023Burghound (88-91)
(exclusively from old vines of an indeterminate age located in 8 different lieux-dits, the largest of which is Le Fourneau). An expressive, cool and nuanced nose freely offers up its aromas of wild red currant, cherry and just enough earth influence to be persuasive that this is from Gevrey. The exceptionally supple, indeed even almost easy-going, flavors aren’t particularly dense but they are refreshing and vibrant before tightening up on the youthfully austere, dusty and fairly firm but not hard finish. This could use better depth so a few years of forbearance should be helpful.Expected Price Range£216 - £264 -
(6x75cl) 2016From the esteemed vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy comes the Louis Boillot Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles 2016 - a sophisticated red that truly encapsulates the terroir of its origin. Crafted by Louis Boillot, renowned for implementing traditional production methods, this pinot noir bears the tell-tale complexities expected from fine Burgundian wines. Harvested meticulously by hand, it undergoes a rigorous selection process before fermentation in wooden vats. Aged in oak barrels, the wine develops robust yet harmonious tannin structure, rounding off with a velvety texture and a delightful, lingering finish. The climats of Les Evocelles contribute earthy, distinct, mineral characteristics and attributes its dark cherry and spice notes. Possessing great ageing potential, the Louis Boillot Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles 2016 is best uncorked after a few years of storage. Suffused with elegance, complexity, and depth, it's an enchanting testament to the prowess of its skilled producer and the richness of the region.

Power and resonance take center stage in the 2011 Nuits Saint Georges Les Pruliers. Crushed rocks, menthol, pencil shavings and dark cherries all ring out in a focused, energetic, tightly wound Burgundy. The 2011 needs time to settle down, but it is striking and utterly vivid in the glass, even at this early stage. There is quite a bit to look forward to here.Inc. VAT£124.13 -

Bright, dark red. Tight nose hints at blackberry, black cherry, licorice and violet, along with a medicinal menthol reserve. Dense, sappy and imploded, with black fruit flavors currently dominated by rather muscular minerality. This very rich but distinctly rectilinear wine is less refined than Boillot's 2013s from Gevrey-Chambertin and its substantial building tannins will require patience.Inc. VAT£108.53 -
Vinous (92)
Healthy full red. Slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, coffee and minerals, plus a positive vegetal nuance that reminded me of the young 2015. Creamy-sweet and highly concentrated, showing a lovely balance of sucrosité and acidity. Quite silky and stylish, especially for Nuits-Saint-Georges. The tannins are more successfully integrated today than those of the Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles, which will allow this rather powerful wine to give pleasure earlier. Impressively long on the aftertaste.Inc. VAT£441.49 -
