(3x75cl) 2019Wine Advocate (92-94)
The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru is showing especially well, bursting with scents of peonies, blood orange, wild plums, cassis and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and expressive, it's lively and sapid, with a pretty core of fruit, bright acids and powdery tannins. This derives from domaine holdings in En Orveaux, where Weber identifies appreciable diurnal shift as a source of freshness.Inc. VAT£1,027.56 -
(6x75cl) 2021Vinous (92-94)
There is just one new 400-liter barrel of the 2021 Echézeaux Grand Cru and is 100% whole bunch. It has a nicely detailed bouquet, though I feel there is maybe a little too much stemminess at the moment, not that Frédéric Weber had ample choice given the depleted volume. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, very harmonious and pure. The stems are more enmeshed towards the lightly spiced finish. Lovely. But it will need time.Inc. VAT£2,276.00 -
Vinous (90-93)
Good deep red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, spices, coffee and animal fur. Sweet, juicy and concentrated, with good medicinal reserve to the purple fruit, spice and stony flavors. A ripe, broad wine that spreads out nicely on the back end, which features dusty, fine tannins.Inc. VAT£1,331.09 -
Vinous (91)
A dark, rich wine, the 1985 La Romanée opens with a rich, soy-infused mélange of aromas and flavors to match its demi-glace-like richness. Brown spices, licorice and worn-in leather add further shades of nuance. The 1985 is fully mature and exquisite, especially in the way layer after layer unfolds in the glass. This is a very beautiful, mature Burgundy that has reached its peak.Inc. VAT£10,591.09 -
(1x75cl) 2001Burghound (96)
The brilliantly perfumed and still very fresh, smoky and spicy red and dark berry fruit aromas are trimmed in subtle wood and menthol nuances. The vibrant and velvety broad-scaled flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the pure, balanced, focused and harmonious finish that delivers flat out stunning length. The depth here is nothing short of mind blowing and this is clearly a big step up from the 2000. Moreover this stunningly beautiful wine is still on the way up and should indisputably make for a great vintage of La Romanée in time. Drink: 2021+.Inc. VAT£1,986.30 -

Deep ruby-red. Superripe yet almost magically vibrant aromas of black fruits, chocolate liqueur and mint. Hugely concentrated, powerful and thick, with fruit of steel and great class. Finishes with uncanny breadth of tannins and persistence. An obvious knockout. Like the top grand crus from Bouchard, this will benefit from six to eight years of cellaring.Inc. VAT£11,451.12 -
(6x150cl) 2010Vinous (92-94)
(aging in two-thirds new oak): Dark red. Black fruits, flowers, minerals and licorice on the vibrant nose, plus a whiff of truffle; I would have picked this blind as a Cote de Nuits wine. Dense, sappy and sweet but with a light touch and excellent definition thanks to its firm underlying minerality. At once delicate and strong, finishing spicy and long, with a flavor of crunchy berries. Not an earthy style of Corton.Inc. VAT£2,372.81 -
(6x75cl) 2012Vinous (93)
Medium red, a bit pale at the rim. Soil-inflected aromas of red fruits, potpourri spices, minerals, flowers and truffle. Plush, rich and fine-grained, showing terrific volume and breadth and a restrained sweetness to the flavors of red fruits, smoke and earth. This seamless, stylish wine boasts strong soil tones and an inviting, very smooth finish. A beauty--and perhaps deceptively accessible today.Inc. VAT£724.84 -
Jancis Robinson (17+)
Confected, candied red fruit on the nose, with rich spices too. Tight tannin, long fruit concentration on the finish. Should unfurl in due course and develop secondary flavours from that intense core fruit.Inc. VAT£612.72 -
(1x150cl) 2018Jancis Robinson (17.5)
Naughty heavy bottle. Focused, dusty and earthy cranberry fruit. Precise and chiselled palate, with lovely fluidity and a long, floral finish. Likely to be ready earlier, but to give lots of pleasure. Elegant burgundy.Inc. VAT£300.84 -

Cask sample. Mid garnet. Pale shaded rim. Intense nose with some sweet-and-salty character. It's not especially weighty but the nose is definitely more intense than that of the premiers crus. Edgy red-fruit and tamarind character. A bold wine. Long with quite a dry finish at this point.Inc. VAT£749.52 -

These vines sit at 270 meters and more or less right on the limestone slab of the old quarry. Dried cranberries and pomegranate seeds offer tingly fruit vibrancy that gives the fruit a lofty, airy quality. The tannins tenderly nudge at the sides of the palate and fade gently on the lingering finish. 2023-30Inc. VAT£363.84 -

(3x75cl) 2022Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)
Mid to deep crimson. Cooked strawberries on the nose. Not really cooked, crushed and peppery really. 50% whole bunches can be seen as well as the limestone aspect of the top of the hill. Almost floral, aiming at a more elegant style rather than a massive one, given the situation. But a very long finish. I was also shown an amphora version of the Corton which had a mid-crimson colour, with a dark raspberry and crushed strawberry nose. Like the Clos de la Mousse, the amphora version comes across as a bit gravelly, the tannins a little more pronounced. Scored for the main version. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted: October 2023.Inc. The 2019 Monthélie Clos Les Champs Fulliot 1er Cru comes from 0.9 hectares of vine. It was the second parcel to be picked because of its warm microclimate, yet I find more precision on the Les Duresses. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit and touches of dark chocolate and tar. There is more elegance and terroir expression on the Les Duresses this year.Inc. VAT£345.12 -

The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières is lovely, bursting with aromas of sweet berries, licorice and violets, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent palate built around sweet, powdery tannins.Expected Price Range£219 - £268 -
James Suckling (95)
This a firm and pretty red with a solid tannin backbone to the medium body. Ripe fruit with some walnut, tobacco, and floral undertones. It’s long and flavorful. Balanced and firm. Classic style. Drink in 2025.Inc. VAT£470.75 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)
Absolutely black centre to this with a massively concentrated bouquet, thus far hiding the detail. Inky depths. I would like to see this again after racking. The wine is not destabilised on the palate and the concentration is certainly exceptional, fresher at the finish. There is certainly an awful lot of wine here: buy it if you want a wine for 25 years time! Tasted: November 2021Inc. VAT£353.89 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)
A small yield in 2022, making it hard to judge the picking date. A rich deep purple in the centre. The oak adds a sheen to the nose. There is vigour to this albeit with a slightly riper fruit profile, but the structure is balanced very well by a fresher limestone feel. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted: October 2023.Inc. VAT£550.32 -

(6x75cl) 2000Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (88-91)
Red-ruby. Highly aromatic nose combines minerals, licorice, chocolate mint, spiced bread and tobacco. Fresh and intensely flavored but very tight; conveys an impression of finesse and strong acidity. Very ripe and chocolatey but shy today. Finishes long and subtle, with substantial fine tannins. Serious juice.Inc. VAT£2,325.89 -

(aged almost entirely in one-year-old barrels, mostly from Chassin): Bright red-ruby. Dark raspberry, dark chocolate, medicinal clove, licorice and spices on the nose, complicated by cinnamon and blond tobacco nuances. Plush, round and seamless, showing lovely subtle spicy depth and a hint of chocolate to the very pure, inviting flavors of raspberry, mocha and minerals. Silky and aromatic in the mouth in spite of its obvious oakiness, and smooth on the finish. There's a good bit of Pinot Beurot here; Bouchard used to eliminate it from this wine but Weber is now including it for greater complexity.Inc. VAT£120.12 -
