Vinous (88-90)The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chabiots 1er Cru has quite a stemmy nose that rather obscures the terroir and fruité at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a chewy opening, quite firm in the mouth, just missing some finesse and Pinoté towards the finish. A bit too firm for a Chambolle, at least in my book. |

Tim Atkin MW (97)The stand out wine at Bichot in 2012, even though it was made from (very special) purchased grapes. Pepper spicy, concentrated, yet clearly defined it's silky, sweet and beguilingly fruity with very subtle oak integration, fine-grained tannins and a silky, palate-caressing finish. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru was picked on 28 September, includes 30% whole bunch fruit and matured in 40% new oak. It has a clean, fresh and vibrant bouquet with red cherry, cranberry leaf and fine mineralité coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, impressive depth, quite saline in the mouth with a pinch of spice/black pepper toward the finish. This is a well-crafted Clos de la Roche that should age with style. |

Vinous (87-89)The 2020 Corton Clos des Maréchaudes Grand Cru has an attractive bouquet with mulberry, raspberry and light floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite firm, a little rustic towards the finish. A broad-shouldered Corton that just needs a little more finesse. |

Vinous (90+)Healthy dark red. Pure but reticent nose offers scents of dark berries and licorice pastille; at once slightly liqueur-like and fresh. Rich, fine-grained and sweet, but a bit less fruity and stylish than the 2016 version. This is ultimately tighter and more powerful and built to age. Doesn't show the finesse of the 2016 version in the early going but avoids coming across as hard. |

Vinous (91)(the yield here was about 33 hectoliters per hectare, vs. an estate-wide average of 28 in 2015): Bright ruby-red. Subtle scents of boysenberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and anise. Concentrated, tactile Beaune premier cru with layered dark berry flavors and lovely integrated sweetness. This very fine-grained, harmonious wine finishes with sweet dark fruits and suave tannins. This wine showed good power but a slight rusticity from barrel a year ago; it's more classy in its finished form. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Derrière La Grange 1er Cru includes 40% whole bunch this year. It has the most vivacious and forward of the domaine’s cuvées, offering ebullient blackberry, raspberry, wild fennel and a hint of oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. Quite suave and very harmonious in texture, though it would benefit from more depth and grip toward the finish (perhaps a little more maceration might have helped). Still, this is a finely crafted, elegant Chambolle-Musigny. |

Vinous (92)The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Derrière La Grange 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet, the 30% whole bunch nicely integrated, ditto the 40% new oak. This just sings from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and candied red fruit laced with white pepper and curry leaf, leading to a cohesive, slightly ferrous finish. This will be fascinating to revisit in bottle. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Derrière La Grange 1er Cru has a vibrant, quite peppery bouquet thanks to the whole bunch addition, well defined with freshly-tilled loam filtering through the black and red fruit. The palate is well defined with succulent tannins, slightly confit-like with figgy notes on the finish. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru uses 15% whole bunch from the 25-year-old vines (the rest are 10 years old). It has a fragrant, elegant bouquet of blackberry, briar, sage and subtle oxtail aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, very fine tannins, and here the Les Amoureuses character really shines. Veins of blue fruit and spices burst through on the finish. There is an appealing crescendo to this wine and it should age with style and panache. |

Vinous (93)The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is blended with 57% whole bunch (one-third of this vineyard has just been replanted). It has a lovely bouquet of black cherries, cherry liqueur, black pepper and just a touch of balsamic. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a little more austere than other Les Amoureuses that I have tasted, but leading to a precise finish. |
