Good medium red. Raspberry, strawberry and spice aromas were initially a bit dulled by oak, but aeration brought some of the floral high notes shown by the other Pacalet '15s. Then juicy, spicy and herbal on the palate, showing modest flesh and restrained sweetness and a youthfully medicinal quality. A distinctly peppery, dry Nuits-Saint-Georges with a firm dusting of tannins and good length. A bit austere in the context of this collection but with no shortage of cherry and dark berry intensity. This needs a good three or four more years of cellaring.Inc. VAT£1,955.04 -

Dullish medium red. Lovely spicy lift to the aromas of red berries and menthol. Juicy and energetic, offering good cut to the flavors of red fruits, spices and peppery herbs. As much a whole-cluster wine as a Nuits-Saint-Georges but juicy and fun to drink, and with no shortage of texture or material. The 2015 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet. Usually I find Damoy's wines a little too extracted for my personal taste, although here there is admirable Pinot Noir expression. Pale, bright yellow. Pure, backward nose is more precise and higher pitched than the Bâtard, offering scents of tangerine zest, crushed rock and silex minerality. Boasts an uncommon combination of thickness with verve. Not heavy but incredibly opulent in the mouth, with its citrus and fresh herb flavors supported by bracing minerality. A wonderfully intense, seamless wine of terroir, and a step above the other 2015s I tasted at this address. Really superb palate-staining length.Inc. VAT£1,477.32 -

Very pale color. Very expressive aromas of pineapple, menthol, crushed stone and white flowers; more open than the Meursault Les Genevrières. Opulent, thick, tactile wine with unexpected sucrosité as well as near-painful intensity to its citrus fruit, peach and floral flavors. Sharply delineated but with plenty of baby fat to buffer its underlying minerality. Colin told me he normally prefers his Genevrières in very warm vintages like 2015, but admits that this wine is surprisingly open today. Will it shut down in bottle?Inc. VAT£1,911.14 -

There is terrific concentration to the muscular and surprisingly sleek full-bodied flavors that are delicious and also possess excellent mid-palate density that drenches the palate in sappy dry extract that also completely buffers the robust tannic spine on the explosive, rustic and hugely long finish. This is an imposingly powerful effort that is also going to need a very long snooze in a cool cellar. Textbook Clos de Vougeot.Inc. VAT£3,209.52 -
Wine Advocate (93)
The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is excellent, opening in the glass with notes of golden orchard fruit, spring flowers, orange zest and hazelnut cream, gently framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a glossy attack, superb concentration and an almost chewy sense of extract, its taut structural elements asserting themselves on the grippy finish. While this is marked by the warmth of the vintage it has the necessary energy and freshness to retain its balance.Inc. VAT£391.32 -

A wonderfully spicy, elegant and fresh nose blends notes of red and dark cherry with those of cassis, plum, violet and discreet earth nuances. The intense and tautly muscular middle weight plus flavors are even more refined if perhaps not quite as mineral-driven while delivering superb length on the balanced but markedly austere finish where a touch of cherry pit emerges. This is also very clearly built-to-age and I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle for at least 10 years and it should easily reward 20.Inc. VAT£2,064.35 -

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
