Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)
Exceptionally concentrated, indeed super saturated purple, with massive weight on the nose. There is also a huge weight of fruit to the back of the palate. While the wine from En Orveaux lacks the dainty detail which Echezeaux can have, it offers graceful muscle instead.Inc. VAT£421.72 -

A deft touch of wood sets off markedly spicy aromas of dark berry fruit coulis, sandalwood and exotic tea. The nicely concentrated and quite stylish flavors are at once caressing but punchy with a lovely texture on the balanced and lingering finish that flashes a touch of austerity. This too could use better depth, but more will almost certainly develop in time given the quality of the underlying material.Inc. VAT£841.22 -

The 2021 Echezeaux Grand Cru is powerful yet not fully developed. There's good energy throughout, that much is evident, but the mid-palate needs to fill out a bit more. It will be interesting to see if that happens in bottle, as the wine I tasted was at the end of its elevage in barrel. Dark red fruit, gravel, spice, leather and game lend quite a bit of darkness to this Echezeaux, which emerges from a parcel in La Combe d'Orveau. - Antonio GalloniInc. VAT£235.46 -

There is a whiff of post-bottling reduction that is just enough to push what appears to be ripe and clean fruit to the background. The finer and almost delicate middle weight flavors possess even more minerality on the lingering, balanced and ultra-pure finale. This is a Latricières of lace and grace yet the supporting tannins are fine but dense and should have no trouble seeing this through an extended aging curve.Inc. VAT£674.23 -
Wine Advocate (95)
One of the high points of the range is the 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, a striking wine that exhibits scents of cassis, forest floor, wild berries, dark chocolate, warm spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping but also beautifully defined, with a bright spine of acidity, it's concentrated and penetrating.Inc. VAT£486.79 -

(3x75cl) 2021Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)
The terroir is made up of small stones in red soil, quite similar to Caillerets. Clean pretty pale primrose, with a brilliant tensile concentration through the middle, not very Meursault this terroir but extremely persistent and makes Genevrières alongside seem a bit massive. Very impressive in its linear style. Drink from 2026-2032.Inc. VAT£844.68 -

The 2022 Meursault Clos Richemont 1er Cru is a dense, opulent white built on texture more than anything else. It is one of the most overt wines in the Boillot range. Orange jam, spice, vanillin, lemon confit and baked apple tart infuse the 2022 with tons of textural intensity. This is such a distinctive wine.Inc. VAT£829.55 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)
A fine even lemon yellow. Racy on the nose, not as immediately distinguished as Goutte d’Or but the qualities creep up on you. More linear, a suggestion of salinity., with layers of a pure limestone white fruit, plenty of dry extract affirms Henri Boillot. Very persistent. Drink from 2030-2036. Tasted Oct 2024.Inc. (negociant wine)) Pure aromas of pineapple and lemon. Thick and plump but with a powerful minerality to the pineapple and wet stone flavors. A generous, tactile '04 that combines outstanding sucrosity with ripe, harmonious acids. Finishes with superb length. I would have picked this blind as a Perrieres. Boillot offered the opinion that 2004 was a great year for Charmes.Inc. VAT£2,147.21 -

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières reveals aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, peach, spring blossom, honeycomb and praline, followed by a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated palate that's chalky and structured, built around lively acids and appreciable dry extract.Inc. VAT£1,217.98 -
(3x75cl) 2019Wine Advocate (93+)
The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has turned out nicely, mingling scents of honeyed pears, mandarin orange, paraffin wax, smoke and toasted nuts in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's bright and chalky, with a long, penetrating finish.Inc. VAT£784.74 -
Vinous (94-96)
The 2022 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a complex, dynamic wine. I especially admire its focus. Pear, slate, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all hover across the palate in a Meursault that marries fruit richness with layers of depth and explosive energy. In other words, classic Genevrières. The 2022 is quite reticent today, but I take that as a positive sign for the future. What a gorgeous wine this is.Inc. VAT£198.26 -
Burghound (94)
An overtly spicy and pure nose is comprised by cool notes of white peach, pear, acacia blossom and mineral reduction. The middle weight flavors are not quite as concentrated or powerful as those of the Poruzots but they are notably more refined with the minerality suggested by the nose confirmed on the palate and in particular on the borderline painfully intense and persistent finish that is saline almost to the point of being salty. This is textbook Perrières that should age effortlessly for years to come. Highly recommended.Inc. VAT£6,145.61 -

Poruzots occupies a prime mid-slope location, sandwiched between Genevrières and Les Gouttes d’Or, with an exposition east and a bit north, which can only have helped in 2019. The result shows extremely lively citrus aromas, with almost tropical, exotic, up front tones and a bit of spice from the 50% new oak used for the maturation. The wine has breadth and substance, but there is plenty of fresh acidity that carries it to a long, persistent finish.Inc. VAT£624.36 -

Outstanding This is also quite smoky with its aromas of green fruit, lemon-lime and herbal tea. There is notably better size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine supporting the clean, dry and seriously long finale. This robust effort will need at least 4 to 5 years of patience.Inc. VAT£453.62 -

Sweet spot Outstanding Top value Notes of smoked hazelnut, poached pear and pretty acacia blossom scents introduce sleek, intense and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate on the clean, focused, balanced and beautifully long finale. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)
5 Star Wine. All domaine fruit now, from Les Chevalières, Luraule. Pelles, Casses Têtes, Petits Charrons. Pale to medium lemon yellow. A generous bouquet speaking clearly of Meursault. A broad bench of ripe white apple fruit with excellent energy, good acidity behind, and notable persistence. Very Meursault and quite delicious. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted: December 2023.Inc. (3x150cl) 2012Vinous (94-97)
Slightly hazy due to a recent stirring of the lees. Highly complex nose combines candied lemon, pineapple, menthol, linden tea, ginger and caramel. Thick and seamless in texture and showing a slightly exotic candied quality, but racy acidity gives sharp relief to the intense orange and lemon zest fruit. Really echoes on the gripping finish, showing a whiplash of citrus and saline flavors. These were the latest-picked vines in 2012, along with the Batard and Corton-Charlemagne, but this stunning wine remains just on the right side of surmaturite.Inc. VAT£9,938.69 -

The 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with scents of ripe oranges, fresh pear, peach, buttered citrus, warm pastry and anise. VAT£1,846.50 -
Decanter (97)
At Boillot they normally make a single, 350-litre barrel of Montrachet, lightly crushing the fruit before pressing in a basket press. The results in 2019 were absolutely beautiful. Ripe pear and fresh flowers dominate the initial attack. On the palate there is a lovely intensity and richness, with a dense, creamy, buttery texture and huge reserves of substance that will keep this wine ageing for years to come.Inc. VAT£1,536.53 -
