A notably ripe and ever-so-mildly exotic but not really surmature nose consists primarily of spicy white orchard fruit along with hints of wood, white flowers and viognier. The rich, opulent and vibrant broad-shouldered flavors possess lovely complexity while delivering excellent length on the powerful and focused if somewhat linear finish. This will almost certainly add body with age, and it appears to be structured for mid to even longer-term cellaring.Inc. VAT£3,198.72 -

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a one-third hectare of vines of which half is en friche (fallow), so only a couple of barrels are produced. It has a very delineated bouquet with enticing citrus peel, crushed pebbles, Clementine and blackcurrant leaf aromas. The palate is very well balanced with impressive concentration and slightly viscous on the entry. Quite rich for a Bâtard-Montrachet yet poised and mineral-driven on the finish. What a wonderful Bâtard-Montrachet - and I confess that I could not resist a cheeky morning sip!Inc. VAT£2,951.16 -

Sample taken from barrel and tank. Clear mid yellow. The bouquet is very backward today but there is great class to the fruit on the palate, with a little honeydew melon suddenly surging forth at the finish. Multi-layered, at the very least adequate acidity with a very long aftertaste. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Dec 2024.Inc. VAT£2,450.80 -

The 2008 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret has a delightful bouquet, perhaps now fully mature with almond, grilled walnut and light minty aromas developing in the glass. I appreciate the cohesion and focus here. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite phenolic and pithy. The acidity could maybe be a little higher just to counter that weight, although I like the unabashed spiciness and that tang of white pepper that lingers on the aftertaste. This is worth seeking out. Tasted at Sarah Marsh's 2008 White Burgundy tasting.Inc. VAT£668.20 -

5*s 34 hl/ha. Fine pale lemon, with a very distinct Caillerets nose - all the stones you could want - to support the pure white fruit. Impeccable density on the palate, now including some bright yellow plum fruit, racy acidity, layers on layers here, boding well for the future. Perfect balancing acidity, this has the power to age extremely well.Inc. VAT£744.80 -

Glowing pale lemon and lime. The nose is particularly fine, showing the stony majesty of Caillerets. The energy is equal right across the palate with excellent tension behind. The aftertaste is first class, and though this may become attractive to drink relatively soon, it will absolutely repay keeping Drink from 2029-2038. Tasted: October 2023.Inc. VAT£937.24 -

Sample taken from barrel and tank. Mid to full lemon yellow. A remarkably intense bouquet with a sizzling crystalline character. There is just a touch of the richer character with a little honeysuckle note, but Caillerets’ intense minerality is very present. Still a baby. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Dec 2024.Inc. The 2021 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru shows a little more reduction on the nose compared to other cuvées but a pleasant flintiness develops with time. The 2018 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is an ample, creamy and super-expressive wine. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and minty notes all flesh out in a Chablis endowed with striking depth and resonance - all qualities that build into the long, beautifully persistent finish. This is one of the bigger premiers crus in the range, but it also retains terrific freshness and vibrancy.Inc. VAT£526.60 -

The 2019 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is quite expressive on the nose of red and green apples; touches of orange blossom develop with air. The lightly spiced palate is concentrated, a richer style for the vintage, and then turns quite nutty thanks to deeper, more clay-rich soils that lend toastiness on the finish. Very fine.Inc. (from Montmains proper; 40% 2 and 3-year-old oak). Prominent notes of mineral reduction and just picked white flowers suffuse the aromas of tidal pool, algae and zest. (from Montmains proper; 40% 2 and 3-year-old oak). Here too there is a discreet application of wood in evidence, which is all that is evident as the nose is quite firmly reduced. This should be lovely after only 4 to 6 years of cellaring.Inc. VAT£498.41 -
