  • Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 2012 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (97+)

Precision, nuance and translucence - not qualities typically associated with this site - are the signatures in Raveneau's 2012 Chablis Valmur. This is a decidedly understated Valmur built on restraint and a total sense of polish. The silky, resonant finish is utterly beautiful. The Valmur is another of the 2012s here that appears to be holding back much of its personality. I imagine it will offer thrilling drinking over the next two decades.

  • Raveneau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 2013 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2013 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru from Domaine Raveneau sports lucid green tints in the glass. It has what you might describe as a “mean” nose, hints of fresh limes, gooseberry and petrichor. Plenty of mineralité here. Moderate intensity, tight at first, this Valmur requires a few minutes to find its groove, delivering stem ginger-tinged citric peel with a slightly oiliness towards the finish that is surprising given the growing season. Quite penetrating on the close. This is excellent, yet it deserves more bottle age.

    Wine Advocate (94+)

The 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is a rich, exotic rendition of this great bottling, exhibiting aromas of honeyed peach, crisp apricot and sweet spices. A strong candidate for the title of wine of the vintage in Chablis this year, the Raveneau family's 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp green apple, citrus zest, iodine, oyster shell and fresh hazelnuts. Full-bodied, taut and chiseled, it's incredibly taut and concentrated, with huge depth at the core, tangy acids and a long, penetrating, pungently saline finish. Might this turn out to be even better than the magical 2017? Time will tell, but this is clearly a masterful achievement.

Once again there is just enough wood to mention on the green fruit, shellfish, quinine-suffused nose. The sleekly muscular, rich, powerful and serious larger-scaled flavors are unusually refined for Valmur before concluding in a driving, bone-dry and hugely long finale. • Remi Jobard Bourgogne Cote d'Or Vieilles Vignes 2023 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (88-90)

Nine plots all adjacent to appellation Meursault. Light lemon, a little ripe citrus, ripe apples too, and excellent length. This builds impressively to the back of the palate. No shortage of wine here, with firm acidity. Drink from 2026-2028. Tasted Nov 2024.
  • Remi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Le Poruzot-Dessus 2019 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (90-92)

The 2019 Meursault Poruzots Dessus 1er Cru displays attractive tropical notes of passion fruit and guava on the nose, maybe obscuring some Meursault typicité but you won’t complain too loudly. The palate is well balanced with that tropical theme continuing, very smooth in texture with nectarine, Clementine, peach and apricot towards the seductive finish. Fine, but more early drinking fare.

  • Remi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrieres 2019 (6x75cl)

The 2019 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru displays much more tension and terroir expression compared to the Charmes, walnut and hazelnut eventually emerging with time. The palate is very well balanced with orange cordial, apricot and light peachy notes. Very, very drinkable, although I would have liked more nerve and tension on the finish.

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)

Fine pale colour with green tints. This is restrained, complex, chiselled, precise, no wood apparent until well on, on the palate, with a white fruit concentration right at the back. Good acidity, some tannins too. A very well organised wine, one could say.

  • Remi Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrieres 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (90-92)

The 2019 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru displays much more tension and terroir expression compared to the Charmes, walnut and hazelnut eventually emerging with time. The palate is very well balanced with orange cordial, apricot and light peachy notes. Very, very drinkable, although I would have liked more nerve and tension on the finish.
