Mid lemon, with just a little bit more intensity on the nose, and very much more on the palate. There is some oak to back it up but the fruit concentration merits this. Chiselled white fruit, some fresh greengage notes as well, fairly long. Indeed, the fruit bounces back some time later. Three barrels made. Tasted: November 2021In Bond£529.00 -

A purchase, in must. It has not yet been racked and may not be. This is racy and delightful, not picked too late, a good greengage note at the back, with a touch of oak from the two year old barrel. Fine length, though the oak is currently a little present at the finish. Tasted: November 2021In Bond£6,904.12 -

Mid lemon yellow. The Frionnes starts to offer a little more substance. There are some yellow plum fruit notes here but still backed by the fresh acidity of the vintage (and Joseph’s style), to make a relatively complete St-Aubin 1er Cru. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Nov 2024.In Bond£225.00 -

The 2021 Saint-Aubin Oratorium Sancti Albini 1er Cru, which one assumes is not an homage to the late music producer, has a pretty nose with lilting scents of orange blossom, pear and lemon meringue, all very well defined. The oak is deftly used here. The palate is well balanced with a crisp line of acidity. Impressive energy and tension combined with satisfying weight and a sense of drive. This is a very capable Saint-Aubin that should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. In Bond£80.00
