Vinous (87-89)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has been in barrel for a year and transferred in tank in October. This has quite intense black cherry and cassis fruit on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins, dark berry fruit laced with Earl Grey, quite weighty on the finish. This deserves a couple of years in bottle. |

Vinous (95)Alluring nose combines lemon, lime, crushed rock and a sexy leesy element. Dense and thick but with terrific mineral spine and energy to its flavors of citrus fruits and white flowers. Great unmistakable Burgundy funk here. Moreau told me that this wine is fairly low in acidity but its saline minerality nonetheless gives it a penetrating quality. Mounts slowly and stains the palate on the very long aftertaste. Superb wild, musky wine with unexpected precision. Deceptively tasteable early on, as Chevalier-Montrachet can be, but lay this one down. |

This suave wine boasts impressive stuffing and energy, and its very long, rising finish is seriously tactile but edge-free. Outstanding potential here, but lay it down. |
