Vinous (94-96)
The 2022 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a complex, dynamic wine. I especially admire its focus. Pear, slate, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all hover across the palate in a Meursault that marries fruit richness with layers of depth and explosive energy. In other words, classic Genevrières. The 2022 is quite reticent today, but I take that as a positive sign for the future. What a gorgeous wine this is.Inc. VAT£198.26 -
Burghound (94)
An overtly spicy and pure nose is comprised by cool notes of white peach, pear, acacia blossom and mineral reduction. The middle weight flavors are not quite as concentrated or powerful as those of the Poruzots but they are notably more refined with the minerality suggested by the nose confirmed on the palate and in particular on the borderline painfully intense and persistent finish that is saline almost to the point of being salty. This is textbook Perrières that should age effortlessly for years to come. Highly recommended.Inc. VAT£6,145.61 -

Poruzots occupies a prime mid-slope location, sandwiched between Genevrières and Les Gouttes d’Or, with an exposition east and a bit north, which can only have helped in 2019. The result shows extremely lively citrus aromas, with almost tropical, exotic, up front tones and a bit of spice from the 50% new oak used for the maturation. The wine has breadth and substance, but there is plenty of fresh acidity that carries it to a long, persistent finish.Inc. VAT£624.36 -
(3x75cl) 2020Burghound (93)
Outstanding This is also quite smoky with its aromas of green fruit, lemon-lime and herbal tea. There is notably better size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine supporting the clean, dry and seriously long finale. This robust effort will need at least 4 to 5 years of patience.Inc. VAT£453.62 -
Burghound (91)
Sweet spot Outstanding Top value Notes of smoked hazelnut, poached pear and pretty acacia blossom scents introduce sleek, intense and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate on the clean, focused, balanced and beautifully long finale. This could use a bit more depth but overall, this is a first-rate Meursault villages.Inc. VAT£770.38 -

The 2021 Meursault, a blend of five parcels across the village, offers good tension and energy, naturally in the smaller-scaled style of the year. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper all grace this attractive village-level bottling from Henri Boillot. - Antonio GalloniInc. VAT£549.12 -

5 Star Wine. All domaine fruit now, from Les Chevalières, Luraule. Pelles, Casses Têtes, Petits Charrons. Pale to medium lemon yellow. A generous bouquet speaking clearly of Meursault. A broad bench of ripe white apple fruit with excellent energy, good acidity behind, and notable persistence. Very Meursault and quite delicious. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted: December 2023.Inc. VAT£529.55 -
(3x150cl) 2012Vinous (94-97)
Slightly hazy due to a recent stirring of the lees. Highly complex nose combines candied lemon, pineapple, menthol, linden tea, ginger and caramel. Thick and seamless in texture and showing a slightly exotic candied quality, but racy acidity gives sharp relief to the intense orange and lemon zest fruit. Really echoes on the gripping finish, showing a whiplash of citrus and saline flavors. These were the latest-picked vines in 2012, along with the Batard and Corton-Charlemagne, but this stunning wine remains just on the right side of surmaturite.Inc. VAT£9,938.69 -
(1x75cl) 2018Wine Advocate (97)
The 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru is brilliant, unfurling in the glass with scents of ripe oranges, fresh pear, peach, buttered citrus, warm pastry and anise. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, textural and enveloping, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and an ineffable sense of completeness, concluding with a long and mineral finish.Inc. VAT£1,846.50 -
Decanter (97)
At Boillot they normally make a single, 350-litre barrel of Montrachet, lightly crushing the fruit before pressing in a basket press. The results in 2019 were absolutely beautiful. Ripe pear and fresh flowers dominate the initial attack. On the palate there is a lovely intensity and richness, with a dense, creamy, buttery texture and huge reserves of substance that will keep this wine ageing for years to come.Inc. VAT£1,536.53 -

1.5 barrels. Fullish yellow with ripe fruit, a touch of bacon fat along with Jerusalem artichokes. As well as the beautiful quality of fruit there is a saline touch. Certainly complex, not monstrously massive, showing more today than the Bâtard but there is correspondingly even more to come. Fresh white fruit at the very finish. Drink from 2030-2040. Mid lemon colour. Discreet but majestic nose. No problem with at all. So many threads on the palate, one greener which lifts it, but the individual fruits should not be singled out – nectarine, passion fruit without excess, a broad base of your favourite apple, lean and sinewy but entirely compelling. The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru is bright, tense and nicely focused. Lemon peel, mint, crushed rocks and white pepper lend notable energy to this wonderfully vibrant, sculpted Puligny. All the elements are so well balanced. Saline notes emerge in the glass, supporting the beautifully persistent finish nicely. This is so attractive.Inc. VAT£1,224.80 -
Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-95)
(4.5 g/l acidity with a pH of 3.09, according to Boillot): Bright pale yellow. Subtly complex aromas of stone fruits, wild herbs, coffee, flowers and saline minerality. Creamy, classy and suave, with captivating flavors of caramel and beurre sale lifted by a brisk citrus element. Wonderfully dense, dry and uncompromising wine with superb lift and a very long, mounting finish.Inc. VAT£170.52 -
Vinous (94)
Outstanding lift to the aromas of lime and crushed stone. Silky, smooth and magically light on its feet, displaying outstanding energy and cut to its lemon, lime and spicy oak flavors. This tastes like it's from another vintage than the Combettes. The bracing, extremely long finish hints at huge dry extract without coming across as phenolic or dry. The crop level here was just 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to Boillot.Inc. VAT£1,553.09 -
Burghound (96)
A highly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to liberate the beautifully well-layered aromas of mineral reduction, white rose, spice, citrus and a wisp of exotic tea. Like the Pucelles there is excellent richness and detail and much more minerality-suffusing the almost painfully intense finale that is breathtaking in its persistence. This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout.Inc. VAT£250.92 -

Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish.Inc. VAT£184.00 -

(Outstanding) This is perhaps the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its aromas of essence of pear and plenitude of spice and citrus elements. Once again, the mid-palate mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is absolutely gorgeous, which contrasts noticeably with the cuts-like-a-knife finish that remains ultra-refined, balanced and persistent. This is most impressive, particularly for the remarkably fine volume and power that is delivered with grace and class.Inc. VAT£514.39 -

Outstanding. Cool, airy and very pretty aromas of the essence of pear, exotic tea, spice and acacia blossom are trimmed in an admirably discreet touch of oak. Much like the Pucelles, the texture of the slightly bigger and more mineral-driven flavors is wonderfully refined and even more powerful on the explosively long, graceful and bone-dry finale. This is also highly recommended.Inc. VAT£1,300.32 -

(Outstanding) Here the equally cool, airy and elegant nose reflects citrus and floral scents that are liberally-suffused with a similar dose of borderline pungent wet stone nuances. There is both excellent volume and focused power to the dense and intense medium-bodied flavors that exude an almost palpable minerality on the superbly long finish that comes close to etching itself on the palate. This is an absolute knockout and a clear candidate for the best premier cru of the vintage.Inc. VAT£714.78 -

5 Star Wine. A fuller yellow here, and an extra degree of completeness, more weight and almost all the class. The oak is still at 50% new and is very well integrated. Bright yellow. Deeper-pitched on the nose than the , Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières, offering aromas of apricot, mandarin orange, smoke and hazelnut. Fine-grained and dense but still a bit hard-edged and in need of further élevage. A bit drier and more aggressive on the end than on the front half, finishing with a hint of menthol. This fruit was harvested very early with sound natural acidity. (Boillot will not bottle a Puligny-Montrachet Folatières or a Caillerets owing to frost losses.)Inc. VAT£1,306.32
