  • Fleur de Miraval Exclusivement Rose ER1 NV (1x75cl)

    Andreas Larsson (95)

I must say that I was quite excited to taste the Champagne that everybody talked about, but no one tasted yet. A great reunion with my old friend, Rodolphe Péters whose champagne making skills are nothing less than exceptional. A ground-breaking style that blends Chardonnay from Côte de Blancs of which one part is the actual vintage, one part reserve wines and one part mature wines from bottle. The rosé part being Pinot Noir from Vertus made as a rosé de saignée blended just before bottling to keep the notion of youthful red fruity freshness. It shows a very gentle bright rosé colour and a vivid mousse with fine bubbles. The nose starts out elegantly – layered and nuanced with chalky notes, fresh hazelnut, marzipan, fresh butter, pink citrus and lemongrass. After some time in the glass the Pinot enters with aromas of crushed raspberry, cherry and pain d´épice. The palate is nicely built, showing great flavour intensity and an invigorating freshness. It´s classically bone dry (4,5 grams of dosage) with a chalky presence, balanced by a mellow creaminess. Flavours of marzipan, confit de citron and peach with layers of mature nuttiness and pastry. Elegantly built with great persistency and precision. Drinks truly well today but should certainly improve from further cellaring.

  • Fleur de Miraval Petite Fleur Brut Rose NV (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)

The NV Brut Rosé Petite Fleur (base 2021) is a very pretty wine. Sweet red cherry fruit, cranberry, mint, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco lend lovely aromatic nuance. The 2021 base is a touch forward, so I would not push my luck on aging. Then again, the Petite Fleur is made for early drinking. The Petite Fleur comes across as a Rosé with a bit of bottle age. Readers who enjoy Rosés with that kind of slightly mature character will enjoy this quite a bit.

  • Francoise Bedel Comme Autrefois 2008 (6x75cl)
  • Francoise Bedel Cuvee Entre Ciel et Terre Brut NV (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

Exhibit A in the case for Bedel and her obscure terroir must be a NV Brut Entre Ciel et Terre, which places Meunier in something more like its usual supporting role, letting Chardonnay and Pinot step forward. Jasmine, green tea, lime, grapefruit, and white currant inform a brightly penetrating yet subtly perfumed nose, whose elements are joined on a palpably lees-enriched yet vivacious and consummately refreshing palate by nut oils, smoky toasted grain and saliva-liberating salinity. A subtle sense of textural oiliness reinforces the nut and citrus oil aspects but without deflecting any of this wine’s effusive juiciness or dimming the invigorating tang incorporated in a mouthwateringly long finish tinged with iodine. I suspect this will merit following for at least another 4-5 years.
  • Francoise Bedel Cuvee Origin'elle Br NV (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91)

Based on 75% Pinot Meunier, 15% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Noir (30- to 60-year-old vines, mainly picked in 2011), the NV Origin'elle is a pretty good representative of both the plantings on the biodynamically farmed 8.4 hectares; these vineyards are located in the most western part of the Marne valley. The wine is made in the special style of Françoise Bedel and her son Vincent, whose wines are kept on the lees for almost one year (in this case in enameled tanks). Straw-golden in color and clear and aromatic on the intense and pretty rich nose, this is a full and round, yet delicate and silky textured fizz. It has a long and aromatic finish. Although the wine seems to be rich and fat at first, it is in fact full-flavored but pure and finesse-full. The finish is clear and fresh, and reveals a nice mineral grip. This is an excellent Champagne as an aperitif, but also with food.
  • Francoise Bedel Jouvence 2013 (6x75cl)
  • Frederic Savart Brut 1er Cru L'Ouverture NV (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90)

The NV Extra-Brut L'Ouverture (trois rondelles) is a terrific wine for the year. Lemon peel, chamomile, dried flowers, mint and tangerine oil are beautifully delineated. This release is 70% 2023 and 30% 2022, bottled with an experimental longer cork that is not typically used for Champagnes at the NV level because of prohibitive cost. In a somewhat fragile vintage like 2023, the longer cork retains more freshness, resulting in a far more satisfying wine, with the cork compensating for some of the lightness of the vintage. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: October 2025.
  • Frederic Savart Extra Brut 1er Cru L'Accomplie NV (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The NV Extra-Brut L'Accomplie is a blend of five barrels, 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay from the lower slopes of Mont Benoit, all 2023 vintage. Two presses were used; the first was 100% Pinot Noir, the second was a Pinot Noir/Chardonnay co-ferment. Considering the year, it's a remarkable wine. Chalky and floral notes open first. Time in the glass brings out the wine's tension, energy and class. It will surely be one of the top wines of the year. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2026.

  • Frederic Savart Mont Benoit 1er Cru 2018 (3x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

The 2018 Extra Brut Premier Cru Le Mont Benoit unwinds in the glass with scents of orange oil, nectarine and peach mingled with hints of white flowers, buttery pastry and frangipane. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and precise, with a racy spine of acidity and a fine-boned, elegant profile, it concludes with a bright, chalky finish.

Produced using traditional Champagne methods, the Cuvee des Hussards Vieilles Vignes undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, followed by an impressive 84-month maturation in the Frerejean Cellars. This extended ageing period imparts a beguiling spectrum of nuanced flavours, marked by undertones of apple, brioche and almond, beautifully married with a crisp and enduring finish. The Frerejean Freres Cuvee des Hussards Brut Vieilles Vignes 2012 is a remarkable testimony to the exquisite brilliance of French winemaking.
