Gorgeous blackberry and raspberry scents feature on the nose, the new oak supportive and beautifully enmeshed. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannins, a keen line of acidity and a chalky-textured finish that is extremely well focused. This is a great success for Denis Lurton and his team. The 2011 Brut Amour de Deutz is a gorgeous Champagne, especially for the year. Lemon confit, tangerine oil, brioche and tropical accents give the 2011 its extroverted personality. I would prefer to drink the 2011 sooner rather than later, just in case the vegetal notes typical of the year emerge, but today it is quite expressive. On the palate this is a light and highly elegant, finesse-full and delightfully fresh Champagne with a firm and persistent (mineral) length without getting big, dramatic or loud.
