Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)
Bright crimson, fresh red fruit with precision, and length, over and above the Bourgogne. Really smart harmonious wine with good length, the little red fruits staying in the mouth. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.Inc. VAT£611.89 -
(1x75cl) 2006Vinous (94+)
Good full red. Reticent aromas of black cherry and licorice. Dense and lusher than the CSJ but showing less inner-mouth perfume and lift today. In fact, this is quite clenched and hard to taste. Impressively thick for the vintage, and elegant in spite of its size. But this powerful Griottes will need at least a decade of bottle aging (especially so now that Fourrier seals his corks with wax). The tannins are broad and serious but not hard.Inc. VAT£671.33 -
(3x75cl) 2013Wine Advocate (94-96)
The 2013 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a glorious bouquet with dark cherries, blueberry and stony aromas - taciturn at first, but soaring from the glass after a couple of minutes. There is a lovely wilted-violet scent here. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, wonderful tension and an H.D. finish that sticks in your memory. Utterly divine.Inc. VAT£2,884.38 -
Wine Advocate (94-96)
The 2014 Griottes Chambertin Grand Cru has a very intense bouquet with maraschino, blueberry and violets blossoming in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, blueberry and a hint of balsamic, leading to a quite a structured and dense finish that just needs a touch more finesse. I think that will develop with time. Superb.Inc. VAT£2,259.18 -

The 2020 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a vivacious bouquet with fine delineation, fragrant rose petal and peony scents infuse the mixture of red and black fruit that intensify with aeration, almost sorbet like with touches of squeezed orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit. Fine detail and poise in situ, very focused and surfeit with livewire energy, this is destined to be a superb Griotte-Chambertin for long-term ageing. Four barrels produced.Inc. VAT£1,080.26 -

The 2017 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru bursts with scents of cassis, wild plums, rich spices, forest floor and black truffle. On the palate, it's full-bodied, chewy and concentrated, standing out as one of the deeper, more powerful wines in the range and concluding with a long and expansive finish. While it isn't as refined as Fourrier's domaine bottlings, if this rounds out with further élevage and bottle age, it's a decidedly promising Mazis in the making.Inc. VAT£3,134.44 -

Good bright red. Spicy blackberry, mocha, pungent spices and exotic herbs on the very ripe nose. Sweet, lush and broad, but with a less refined texture than the Gruenchers. Finishes with substantial tannins.Inc. VAT£236.93 -
Vinous (90)
Good medium red. Aromas of black cherry, mocha, minerals and licorice. Dense, supple and smooth, with savory notes of pepper and smoke. Nicely tactile finish displays suave tannins and saline soil tones. I underestimated this wine from barrel last year.Inc. VAT£1,084.40 -
Vinous (89-90)
Bright dark red. Very fresh aromas of blueberry and menthol plus a hint of game. Concentrated and seamless, with its crushed purple fruit flavors complicated by a suggestion of fresh blood. Offers a lovely combination of thickness and acidity and finishes with a firm tannic spine. This cool site did very well in 2015.Inc. VAT£175.73 -

Fourrier's 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, dark chocolate and candied peel, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent palate that's open-knit and giving but nicely concentrated. It will offer a broad drinking window.Inc. VAT£1,089.64 -

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon has a very perfumed bouquet of dark plum and raspberry scents; a little iodine emerges with time. The deep, broody palate is well-structured with grainy tannins and a structured, slightly tarry finish. Fine, but needs a little more joy.Inc. VAT£187.19 -

Vinous - Neal Martin (91-93)
The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon has long been one of Jean-Marie Fourrier's strongest cards, and this vintage is no different: the wonderful, quite complex nose offers blackberry, raspberry, sous-bois, and light tobacco scents. Very engaging. The medium-bodied palate is excellent, balanced with fine tannins and a sense of elegance towards the finish, demonstrating very assiduous winemaking. Excellent.Inc. VAT£1,053.49 -

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas has a detailed, finely proportioned bouquet of red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The palate is fresh and almost citric on the entry, with a fine bead of acidity and an attractive peppery finish. Drink over the next 6–8 years.Inc. VAT£932.29 -
Inc. VAT£989.89 -
Vinous (89-92)
Bright, moderately saturated medium red. Rather wild scents of crushed cherry stomp, flowers, medicinal herbs and minerals. Offers a lovely fine-grained texture and sweetness of fruit but still in a juicy style for all its ripeness. Very good for this cuvée but there are just three barrels of this juice from 0.34 hectare--or not much above 20 hectoliters per hectare. Savory and long on the aftertaste, with plenty of tannic support.Inc. VAT£1,192.40 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2018 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeot 1er Cru has a pretty, potpourri-tinged red and black cherry bouquet that is very Vosne-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, plenty of raspberry confit and crushed strawberry fruit laced with dark chocolate toward the grippy finish. Lovely texture here, and impressive length. This needs three to five years in bottle.Inc. VAT£1,232.00 -

Vinous (92-94)
The 2020 Vougeot Les Petits Vougeot 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose, a mixture of black cherry and blueberry fruit, pressed violets and veins of blood orange. The palate already conveys a sense of energy, sorbet-fresh red fruit laced with dessicated orange peel, touches of stem ginger emerging towards the spicy finish. Very impressive length. This is excellent.Inc. VAT£396.53 -
