The 2018 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Moelleux Première Trie is deep and intense yet pure and chalky on the distinctive, slightly flinty and yeasty nougat-scented nose. Vital, vibrantly fresh and tight yet fine and pure on the playful palate, this is an intense, sweet and impressively rich Chenin with tension, salt and finesse as well as fine but grippy tannins. This is an exciting Haut-Lieu that is already dangerously ready to drink but will become even more complex and dimensioned with bottle age. Definitely the Haut-Lieu of the vintage! The 2020 Le Haut Lieu Moelleux Première Trie is pretty gorgeous with its sweet embrace (71g/L residual sugar) caressing the palate like a silky-smooth velouté. It sits calmly in the mouth, showing the typical fruit-forward character of the site, all oranges, chamomile and violets. The deeply satisfying finish provides the merest of grips, and fresh acid makes your mouth water. Already delicious in its youth, this wine has the concentration, acidity and sweetness to age gracefully, as Huet fans will know well.Inc. VAT£708.41 -

This is a great Haut-Lieu for the next ten, maybe 50 years.Inc. VAT£494.81 -

Slow to unfold, but finishes with excellent clarity, lift and persistence. In its very early days, Hugel’s 2005 Gewurztraminer Selection de Grains Nobles is already truly noble! Orange marmalade, caramelized peach, spiced pear and yellow plum preserves, cinnamon and mint candies, roses, and honey and white raisin fill the nose. Spectacularly luscious and expansive on the palate, honeyed, silken-textured, and loaded with primary, vividly juicy fruit such as one seldom encounters in this grape variety much less at stratospheric ripeness, this fills ones head with sweet perfume and dreams of future vinous glory – if only you can give it at least twenty years. And if one must drink it today, despite considerable sweetness, this amazing Gewurztraminer already displays not just prodigious length and profundity of flavor – saline chalky mineral suggestions and deep smoked meat pungency lending a darker side to its performance – but elegance, poise, refinement, and remarkable lift and refreshment.Inc. The 2014 Riesling Grossi Laüe is harvested from four parcels across the midslope of the marls of the Schoenenbourg Grand Cru. From a cool vintage, with a cool, rainy summer where the autumn made the vintage. The palate is serene, gorgeously smooth and emollient with its cooling, soothing, chamomile-scented, fresh gentleness. This is a Riesling like a caress, like a balm, while cooling, healing and soothing.
