Burghound (93)
A notably ripe and ever-so-mildly exotic but not really surmature nose consists primarily of spicy white orchard fruit along with hints of wood, white flowers and viognier. The rich, opulent and vibrant broad-shouldered flavors possess lovely complexity while delivering excellent length on the powerful and focused if somewhat linear finish. This will almost certainly add body with age, and it appears to be structured for mid to even longer-term cellaring. In Bond£2,647.00 -

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a one-third hectare of vines of which half is en friche (fallow), so only a couple of barrels are produced. It has a very delineated bouquet with enticing citrus peel, crushed pebbles, Clementine and blackcurrant leaf aromas. The palate is very well balanced with impressive concentration and slightly viscous on the entry. Quite rich for a Bâtard-Montrachet yet poised and mineral-driven on the finish. What a wonderful Bâtard-Montrachet - and I confess that I could not resist a cheeky morning sip!In Bond£2,492.00 -

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)
Sample taken from barrel and tank. Clear mid yellow. The bouquet is very backward today but there is great class to the fruit on the palate, with a little honeydew melon suddenly surging forth at the finish. Multi-layered, at the very least adequate acidity with a very long aftertaste. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Dec 2024.In Bond£2,032.00 -

The 2008 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret has a delightful bouquet, perhaps now fully mature with almond, grilled walnut and light minty aromas developing in the glass. I appreciate the cohesion and focus here. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite phenolic and pithy. The acidity could maybe be a little higher just to counter that weight, although I like the unabashed spiciness and that tang of white pepper that lingers on the aftertaste. This is worth seeking out. Tasted at Sarah Marsh's 2008 White Burgundy tasting. In Bond£544.00 -

Bright, pale yellow. Highly aromatic nose combines orange zest and crushed stone. The broadest of these 2014 samples but energized by mineral-driven acidity and a strong salty quality. Finishes firm-edged and long, with subtle orange-y sweetness and crushed-rock minerality. In Bond£1,183.00 -
