I hate using the word minerality as it means so many different things to people, but in my opinion, this has it in spades. Healthy medium red. Very ripe, pungent aromas of cassis, blackberry, coffee and mocha, with a suggestion of hard candy. Lush and silky-sweet in the mouth; not as complex as the Reas but boasts a wonderfully pliant texture and a very long, smoothly tannic finish. (50% new oak; 25 hectoliters per hectare; destemmed owing to the flies): Healthy bright red. Slightly reduced aromas of dark cherry, spices and crushed rock lifted by a refined floral quality. The 2018 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots is a mix of Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits Saint-Georges fruit, and it had been racked two weeks prior to my visit in December. It has a pretty raspberry and cranberry bouquet, floral in style, with subtle vanilla notes emerging with time; you cannot detect the 20% whole bunch. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit, and the whole bunch lends freshness and a subtle pepperiness toward the finish. Very fine.In Bond£206.19 -

A mix of fruit from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, now with Hautes-Côtes fruit to impart freshness, the 2020 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots has a slightly earthy, ash-tinged bouquet that takes time to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, touch of marmalade and quince with a fresh but not long finish. Fine.In Bond£150.00 -

Vinous (88-90)
(a new wine for Liger-Belair; vinified with 40% whole clusters and aging in 40% new oak): Bright medium ruby. Even darker on the nose than the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Les Trois Terroirs, offering scents of blackberry, violet and tropical dark chocolate and brown spice flavors. Rather relaxed in the middle palate considering the tiny yield of 12 hectoliters per hectare, but finishes with a firm dusting of tannins. In Bond£531.00 -
Vinous (88-90)
A blend of five different parcels, the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village shows a bit of reduction on the nose. It eventually opens, offering bright red berry fruit with light stemmy notes from the 40% whole clusters. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, not complex but focused, showing good grip toward the bright, expressive wild strawberry and raspberry finish. Probably early-drinking but well worth seeking out.In Bond£345.00
