Brought up in 20% new oak, the 2013 Condrieu Coteau du Chery is a bigger, richer, more concentrated wine in the vintage than the Clos Chanson (which is the opposite from 2014). A touch unruly at the moment and in need of six to 12 months in bottle, it offers serious notes of caramelized stone fruits, apple blossom and honeysuckle to go with full-bodied richness, a big mid-palate, and plenty of cut and definition on the finish. It should be at its best from 2017-2021.Inc. VAT£530.98 -

Finishes with a strong jolt of minerality, repeating florality and noteworthy persistence. This wine's blend of power and finesse is quite something.Inc. VAT£1,104.70 -

Lastly, the 2019 Condrieu Coteau De Vernon comes from a steep, southeast-facing hillside of granite soils and is brought up a mix of 15% new barrels and foudres. The foudres were introduced in 2012 and I think contribute to slightly more tension and vibrancy in the wines. Peach, crushed citrus, spicy wood, and crushed stone notes all define the nose, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, wonderful overall balance, integrated acidity, and one hell of a great finish. A reference point Condrieu if there ever was one, it will benefit from a year or two in bottle then have a gradual evolution over the following decade. (6x150cl) 2022Wine Advocate (93)
The 2022 Condrieu les Terrasses de l'Empire is pure and elegant, offering up aromas of white pear, peach, flowers and honeysuckle, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and enrobing palate with a dense, fleshy core of fruit and a sensual palate that segues into a fresh, long and quite saline finish, highlighted by a subtle bitterness. Crafted from several parcels that are in the upper steep slopes of the estate, it's a great classic at this address and, as always, an excellent Condrieu. In Bond£615.46 -
