Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)
A good even density of crimson. The nose suggests fair density but does not want to give detail. Solid and really quite fine on the palate, the most classical structure of all the cuvees, the wine that suggests it will need longest to come round. Racy finish, with fruit, tannins and acidity all in good balance. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted: November 2022.Inc. VAT£1,632.29 -
Vinous (94-96)
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru bides its time unfolding in the glass, eventually revealing earthy red fruit, clove and hints of bergamot. This is very complex, but it is not a flashy Chambolle. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry. It has crisp acidity and is nicely structured with one of the most sapid finishes from the Domaine. This is one of their finest offerings in this vintage.Inc. VAT£2,064.80 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (94-96)
The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru is endowed with the most fruit concentration amongst the domaine's Premier Crus. Mulberry, raspberry, damp earth and dark chocolate hints develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, with an assertive grip on the entry. The fine tannins here give this Les Cras wonderful symmetry and poise. It's nimble, complete and delicious toward the saline finish. This Chambolle is a cut above.Inc. VAT£1,187.60 -
(12x75cl) 2005Vinous (93+)
Subdued aromas of plum, chocolate, violet and crushed rock, with a slightly liqueur-like quality. Dense, sappy, superconcentrated and sweet; a remarkably solid wine with terrific chewy depth. The finish stains the palate with powerful tannins and minerality, but the fruit and tannins will need at a good 10 years to come into harmony. There were just four barrels of this juice, as opposed to a typical five and a half, due to the tiny, thick-skinned grapes. It should be at least a misdemeanor to open this wine anytime soon.Inc. Barthod's 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées is utterly impeccable from start to finish. It possesses tons of inner sweetness in a finessed, gracious style that is immensely appealing. A last burst of exotic red fruit frames the finish. The Fuées is flat-out striking.Inc. VAT£3,752.81 -

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru has a well-defined nose, perhaps one of the most mineral driven amongst Ghislaine-Barthod's range. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, vivacious and focused with lively red fruit and an exuberant finish that is very convincing. This Gruenchers transcends the growing season. Sublime.Inc. VAT£762.80 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru has a spicy bouquet that takes time to cohere in the glass. Dark cherries, pain d'épice and dried flowers unfold in the glass. The palate is perhaps the most marine-influenced of the cuvées. Rather foursquare perhaps: it's tightly wound and slightly conservative towards the finish, yet feels long in the mouth. Very fine…but you must be patient.Inc. VAT£1,452.80 -

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Village, which contains around 20% new oak, has a crisp black cherry and raspberry-scented bouquet, tight at first but fanning out with open arms upon aeration. The palate is just wonderful: super fine tannin, a killer line of acidity, a little crunchiness to the texture, but bestowed with immense purity on the finish.
