Wine Advocate (91-93)
The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots, matured in 50% new oak, has a similar bouquet to the les Fleurières, but here the fruit is one of Confuron’s few that nudges more toward the red side of the fruit spectrum. The palate is silky smooth on the entry with a fine line of acidity. There is ample freshness here, a buxom Vosne endowed with sensuality and purity on the finish.Inc. VAT£1,669.27 -

Destemmed after the drought so as not to stress further. Assembled in tank. Fine mid purple. Another really attractive perfumed nose, they do seem to have hit the picking dates just right at J-J Confuron this year. Much more red than black fruit, extremely juicy, enough generosity here, some tannins to finish, but the fruit is the clear winner. Tasted: December 2021Inc. VAT£732.29 -

Wine Advocate (94-96)
This is a stunning wine. This dark ruby colored beauty displays a beguiling nose of roses, violets, perfume, and candied red fruits that is followed by a super-ripe (sur-maturite!), unbelievably classy, and splendidly balanced character. Its mouth-coating, powerful (yet elegant), rich, and plump flavor profile is jam-packed with red and black fruits, flowers, and silky tannins that persist throughout its defined and amazingly long finish. This magnificent wine is a testimony to Meunier's dedication, work-ethic, and huge talent. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012+. Bravo!Inc. VAT£626.93 -
(1x75cl) 2005Vinous (96)
Saturated, dark red-ruby color. Soil-driven aromas of dark cherry, mocha, cocoa powder and pungent minerality. Like liquid silk in the mouth, with great finesse and perfume to its ineffable raspberry and mineral flavors. Wonderfully concentrated, classy wine with an utterly seamless texture. This saturates every millimeter of the mouth. The suave, perfumed finishing flavors go on and on yet remain virtually weightless. A great wine: Meunier considers it the best he has made since 1993.Inc. VAT£848.66 -
(1x150cl) 2008Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (95)
Good deep ruby-red. Slightly reduced, reticent aromas of cassis and minerals, with a note of cocoa powder emerging with air. Sweet, lush and rich; quite primary but with harmonious acidity. This one struck me as like a larger version of the Beaux-Monts. The tannins are essentially sweet but today they cut off the wine's fruit. One senses that there's a lot more to come. According to Meunier, production of his two grand crus was barely 22 hectoliters per hectare in 2008.Inc. VAT£1,840.67 -
Burghound (95)
This is also notably floral in character with a panoply of spice elements that add both depth and breadth to the cool cherry, raspberry and red currant aromas. As was the case with the Beaux Monts there is a spicy inner mouth perfume to the delicious and classy middle weight flavors that are shaped by sophisticated and very fine tannins, all wrapped in a mouth coating, focused and seriously persistent finish. A classic RSV.Inc. VAT£2,544.48 -
Burghound (95)
A restrained but still wonderfully spicy nose consists of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet, lavender and black cherry liqueur. The middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouthfeel with a silky mid-palate yet the hugely long and slightly warm finish is borderline chewy. There is no doubting the quality of the underlying material and the length here is genuinely superb but it would be fair to observe that this is a very robust RSV. Patience will be required.Inc. The 2016 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet. The fruit is darker than its peers: blackberry, boysenberry, hints of blueberry and crushed violet petals. This is quintessential Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and perfectly judged acidity. This is endowed with disarming structure and poise, fanning out beautifully towards the finish. A fabulous wine but it deserves a decade in the cellar. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Planted way back in 1926, this 0.5ha parcel is always the most complex wine at the domaine. Violet and aniseed scents segue into a palate that's smooth, glossy and textured with bramble and black cherry fruit, some chalky undertones, stylish oak and subtle reduction. Supple, refined winemaking with appealing underlying precision and freshness. One of the best examples of the Grand Cru in 2018.Inc. VAT£2,873.52 -
