Vinous (87-90)
Bright ruby-red. Spicy blackberry and blackcurrant aromas complicated by floral, animal and tarry nuances. Densely packed but bright, with lively acidity and well-defined fruit flavors. Nicely pliant and easygoing. Finishes with ripe tannins and a distinct component of sweet oak. Meo experimented with a bit of reverse osmosis on this cuvee, eliminating about 5% of the water.Inc. VAT£761.33 -
(1x75cl) 2005Vinous (89-92)
Bright medium ruby-red. Pure aromas of blackberry, licorice and violet. Ripe, dense and sweet, with firm underlying minerality giving definition to the dark fruit and chocolate flavors. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins. Meo believes this may turn out to be his best Chaumes to date.Inc. VAT£655.45 -
(1x75cl) 2012Wine Spectator (92)
Taut and austere, with floral and berry flavors sealed up. The tannins are prominent now, but this shows purity, balance and length, finishing with cherry and mineral accents. Gains suppleness with air, so be patient. Best from 2018 through 2032.Inc. VAT£337.45 -

Aromas of cherries, dark chocolate, sweet soil tones and potpourri preface Méo's 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes, a medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly muscular wine with a generous core of fruit framed by rich and powdery tannins. This is quite a virile, powerful Chaumes this year, and it will reward bottle age.Inc. VAT£537.19 -
(6x75cl) 2020Vinous (92-94)
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has a very pure and perfumed bouquet with dark cherries, violet and hints of blueberry, the floral component emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, silky in texture with a poised and almost delicate finish. A very winsome Vosne-Romanée in the making here.Inc. VAT£1,248.35 -

(6x75cl) 2022Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)
Fresh purple with some intensity. A little bit of wood on the nose, and a fruit which suggests that it needs more elevage. Quite strict despite the mix of pure red and tending to black fruit. Medium plus intensity, severe at the moment, I have no problem with that, especially as there is clearly potential. Drink from 2031-2039. Tasted: December 2023.Inc. VAT£1,219.49 -
Wine Advocate (88-90)
The 2012 Vosne-Romanee Village comes from two parcels in “Les Barreaux” and “Aux Communes”, the former representing a good 70% of the blend. It is actually one of the last cuvees to be harvested as it is a cool site. It has a tightly wound, slightly laconic bouquet that takes some coaxing from the glass, eventually offering black rather than red tertiary fruit. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut red berry fruit with a crisp, chalky structure towards the finish. This will probably need two or three years in bottle to really unfurl.Inc. VAT£204.53 -
Vinous (88-90)
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village was a little sullen when I tasted the barrel sample, offering broody black fruit and quite a strong marine influence plus a touch of black olive. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, quite Morey-like in terms of structure, leading to a more austere finish than some of its peers at the moment. Will need time.Inc. VAT£152.00 -
Savour the complexity of the Meyney 1981, a riveting vintage from the storied Chateau Meyney of Bordeaux's Saint Estèphe region. As a distinguished Bordeaux Superieur, this wine exudes the meticulosity of the winemaking process. The vineyard, established in the 17th century, boasts a remarkable location next to the river Gironde, leading to a unique terroir that damasks itself into layers of flavour.
The Meyney 1981 reveals its age through pronounced tannins and a striking boldness on the palate. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, the wine offers a nod to tradition while expressing individuality. Expect notes of ripe fruit, truffle, and tobacco, elegantly underpinned by a subtle touch of oak from 18 months in French barrels.
An embodiment of Chateau Meyney's commitment to excellence, the Meyney 1981 remains a testament to the enduring appeal of fine Bordeaux wines.

The 2012 Meyney is a deep, structured wine with a lot going on in the glass. The expressive bouquet alone is enticing, but all the elements simply come together effortlessly. The pliant fruit suggests the 2012 can be enjoyed young - and it can - but there is also more than enough depth to allow the wine to age gracefully for years. This is an impressive Saint-Estephe, especially for the year.Inc. VAT£181.32 -

The delightful 2014 Meyney marks a year when winemaker Anne Le Naour and her team raised their game once more. A nose of lovely red berry fruit mixed with wilted rose petals and cedar gains intensity with aeration. The palate demonstrates much finer tannins than previous vintages, well-pitched acidity and superb precision on the classically styled finish. This is just entering its drinking plateau. The 2017 Meyney has turned out beautifully. Dark, pliant and generous in feel, the 2017 possesses striking depth and polish to match its mid-weight personality. Dried cherry, mint, dried flowers, licorice, cedar and tobacco infuse the 2017 with lovely layers of aromatic nuance and complexity. All the elements meld together nicely. Just as it was en primeur, the 2017 is relatively understated for Meyney, but that is not a bad thing at all.
