Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)
Pale lemon and lime. This time the oak has a light coconut effect. There is notably more body to this compared to Clos St Marc, while the thread of citrus acidity retains an equal balance. The fruit includes some little yellow plums, and continues through to an extended finish. A keeper.Inc. VAT£855.89 -

The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru has a rich, almost decadent bouquet of billowing clementine, mango and vanilla aromas that are attractive but missing some definition. The palate is balanced, offering lime and orange zest and a pretty, slightly saline finish that lingers in the mouth; it lacks precision but there is satisfying length. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.Inc. VAT£181.73 -

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Vergers Clos Saint-Marc 1er Cru has a significant struck-match aroma on the nose that obscures delineation and terroir expression, and it doesn’t get much better with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft entry and lower acidity than its peers. Simple compared to others, and a little overworked toward the finish, but it does improve significantly in the glass. The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Marc 1er Cru has a fragrant, quite beguiling bouquet of wild honey and peach skin, not afraid to convey the warmth of the season but retaining typicité. The palate is well balanced with a rounded texture, not as complex as the aromatics, with touches of tropical fruit mixed with camomile and chai. Nicely composed on the finish, this is ready to drink right now. Bottled under Diam 10. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.Inc. VAT£153.72 -

The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a well-defined and focused bouquet. The oak initially feels loud, displaying toasty notes that admittedly marry well with the reduction, and then, magically, it coalesces and becomes more and more vivid and animated with aeration. The palate is very well balanced, and then flavors of mango, clementine and a touch of ginger reflect the precocity of the growing season. It feels a little heavy toward the finish, possibly with some botrytized fruit, but it develops precision with aeration. Very promising. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. The 2021 Meursault-Blagny Sous La Dos d'Ane 1er Cru demonstrates more reduction on the nose, although there is a quality wine beneath, delineated and displaying a sense of energy. The palate is predictably also quite reduced. Balanced with a keen line of acidity, but at the moment that reduction denudes this Meursault of personality. Therefore, afford this three or four years in bottle to "lift the veil." Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.Inc. VAT£1,182.26 -
