Burghound (93)A beautifully layered and subtly yeasty nose reflects notes of poached pear and apple, Meyer lemon and pretty floral hints. The complexity of the nose can also be found on the palate of the rich and generously proportioned medium weight flavors that are supported by firm but fine mousse on the dry but not austere finale. Like many 2012s, this is fleshy and round but here, it manages to retain a certain stylish grace. For my taste, this could be enjoyed now or held for another 5-ish or so years. Interestingly, this bottle showed much better than did one tasted in 2022. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2014 Meursault Clos du Cromin, which includes old vines planted in 1927 and young vines planted in 2000, has a delightful bouquet that is understated at first, coquettish and reluctantly revealing yellow plum, cold granite and flinty notes, more Puligny-like than Meursault at the moment. The palate is very well defined with a keen thread of acidity, well-poised fresh lime, green apple and a touch of gooseberry towards the persistent finish. This is a superb expression of this village cru. |
